I wouldn't say the benefits are marginal... nowadays, the 4-5k price point is getting you really nice components and you see a lot of enthusiasts on them. 1-2k is minimum, today IMO, for a quality full sus. I will say Specialized are priced a bit higher than others value brand (Giant or Trek) or consumer direct brands (Canyon) at equal component levels. However their are brands like Evil, Yeti, Nukeproof that raise the bar to Specialized in terms of component level to price.

Stumpys are good bikes, can't go wrong. It comes down to budget and intended use.
