Nope - it's because he's shifting on 6700s that we've been trying to talk him in to upgrading.
Wondering what my issue is then, I'm shifting on 6800s and have replaced 3 rear cables + 1 brifter with in the last three years. I'm thinking one was a bad install, but still seems higher than normal.
Edit....After reading a few more replies, it seems 1/year is on the lower end of expected lifetimes, but not totally unreasonable.
