The flaw in that design that I see is that the tooth gaps between each gear need to be the same throughout the whole gear range. That is going to make the ratio jumps and the low end (large cogs) much tighter than the gaps at the high end (small cogs). Not really an issue for narrow range “cassettes” (or whatever you call these), but it is with a wide range one.
