My older brother and I were in the first draft lottery. My number was 305. My brother had already had his physical so he enlisted in the Coast Guard before his draft notice came. He was up at The Great Lakes naval base on the morning of the first lottery ready to be sworn in when it was decided that anyone could wait for the lottery before finalizing their induction. His number was 345 and he came home the next morning.
