Agree. The only mass start event I have planned is the Mallorca 312, and I am rationalizing its safety because only experienced cyclists are likely to be on the course, plus they close the course to cars. It’s on April 29, 2023. Care to join us??
Ha. Sounds like fun, but I can barely plan dinner with my family, so that may be a tall order.
I'm occasionally tempted, mostly out of boredom, to join a bigger event - there's a ride to the west of me that does a good job with police, volunteers, signage, road closures, support, food & drink, etc - but then I think about (or run across) the types of folks likely to participate... yeah - no. Along those lines, I came across a fairly large ride today, split in to three groups, going in the opposite direction. Yeah, spreading out like a blob, not particularly paying attention, had to call out a time or two to head off a head-on, etc.
Plus, they didn't look as cool and fashionable as me, so who wants to associate with that?!
