A young guy in a hot Eurosportsedan did intentionally leave me room to cut in from the shoulder and sprint across a long one-lane bridge with a traffic signal.
I was glad I went. When they invited me I tried to talk them out of going to the coast but it has been so hot inland I gave in. It wasn't the circus I expected. There was a 9/11 ceremony at Pepperdine University with 3000 flags on display facing the highway. Large police presence may have helped persuade drivers to behave.
