I imagine you are defining "not work" rather than "work". But my point is, the vaccines work in several ways - reducing likelihood of infection; reduced likelihood of illness if infected; reduced severity of illness if symptomatic; reduced likelihood of death if severely ill.
So, it might still do all of those, to a lesser degree, and still be useful, especially once boosted. Per Fauci, we should know in a couple weeks how protective the vaccines are against this variant.
The irritating thing is that antivaxxers will use this as a reason not to get vaccinated, whereas in fact it's a compelling argument for vaccination - the fewer highly susceptible people in the population, the lower the rate of replication, and the lower the rate of replication the slower the rate of viral evolution.
