Yeah, we still get just plain old sick during a Pandemic. Reminds me of a scene from "Hope and Glory", set in Britain during WWII - a family comes home from a day in the country to find their house is on fire. The Mom asks the head of the Fire Brigade, "What was it, a stray bomb?"
"No, ma'am. Just a fire. They happen in wartime, too."
The countermeasures earlier, though, did snuff out much of the seasonal cold and flu. I really don't think the masks are so bad, at least for people not working in them all day. We could do a lot of good by not being so hostile to them.
