I've used Novatec hubs on several wheelsets, and never had a problem other than bearing wear, but I live in AZ. People that live in areas that actually get rain, sometimes tell a different story. DT hubs are well known for being high quality, and reasonably light weight.

Only my personal experience, but my Novatec hubs crapped out after about 350 miles. LB is swapping them right now for DT350 hubs. I have a set of Novatec brand wheels (Jetflys) that have been great, so I figured these would be good. Could be a one off, but after doing more research, the DT hubs seem to be pretty bulletproof for most people, and since the extra weight is at the hub, it shouldn't affect the wheel's performance. When I get my wheels back, I'll post up my riding experience with the DT hubs.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the shape difference between these two hoops. The v shape used for the 56mm hoop is very different than the old v shape that came to a sharp point. These are a far better shape, and quite similar to the shape used by Enve.
If I was concerned about wind issues, I would look at the RR46CO2 hoops. They should work well with a 25mm or 28 mm tire.

Again, not any fault of LB, the wheels themselves are perfect, and their customer service handling this issue was also fantastic. The communication from their folks at the NA shop was great.

I decided to go for the DT upgrade for peace of mind. They're on their way back to me right now, I should have them by next week.

Just noticing, or at least only now curious.. What iare the large "H" or is it a sideways "I" logos signifying? Ie. they're at 9 and 3 o'clock on the rims in photo above.

It's not an H or an I - it's the negative space between their stylized LB. Look at their upside-down logo at the valve stem.

Around what? That they're larger (and truncated) versions of the same logo seen at the valve stem? (The large logos are right-side up when at the ~10-o'clockish position.) Or that the logo is a stylized "LB"? (L on the left with a tail that kicks up and a 3-lookin' B on the right.)

Tried for, literally an hour to mount with only my hands. Gave up, and decided to use a lever. With the lever, they were quite easy. Tried a track pump, but could not get them seated, so used a compressor, but they seated at such a low pressure and with such ease with the compressor [as compared to my Schwalbe Pros], that I think they would have seated with my pump if I had used some soap solution.
