Just to prove I once turned pedals in anger (photo is from 1994). Decided with two laps to go it was now or never to reel in the 3-man breakaway. Thought somebody would go with me. Incorrect.
But I held on for 4th place. And I do have the .49 trophy to prove it.
If I sometimes come across as impatient and cranky with some of this stuff, it's because I have been doing this for a while. Note the vintage Time shoes in the photo from the Lemond era. And that's state-of-the-art Dura Ace EIGHT speed boys. And coming from the downtube shifter days, we were damn happy to have it, believe me.
Yes, I've been getting dropped/humiiated since Penguin was watching Sesame Street I'm afraid. USCF member (on and off) since 1993. But not on the day in the photo. One from the Every Dog Has His Day dept.
Did I mention the 80 mile training rides in the snow we used to do, uphill both ways?

Last crit I did I actually won a gift certificate for a free haircut. I think everyone decided that I needed it most and sat up so I could take it.

You could have a faster TT if you cut the Crusty The Clown wings off.

It's the tongue. My preferred sprinting technique, I guess. Got 6th in this race, a club race, against 1/2's. The 5th place guy is a National Team rider. The guy who won just came back from the Pan Am Games with a Gold Medal. Tough field.
