Always on the 3rd week I'm trashed and it turns into a recovery week; this week was more from sleep issues. Some birds had babies in the tree in back and they chirp all night.

2 hours in the rain.
It was 65-ish degrees though, so velotoze + bibs = awesomeness.

Local race got cancelled due to rain. Did a zwift race instead. What a snooze fest it was. Ride together for 50k and sprint.
The zwift physics are so unlike real life now a days. The peloton blob effect is broke af. It makes it really hard to get away and really hard to get anyone back once they've got a significant gap since getting the speed of the blob to go higher is way hard due to the sticky draft. Meh.

after 2 days off I wanted to do a little more but not a lot of intensity, I need to practice getting in more saddle time, especially with some potentially longer races coming up this month. decided to do 3hrs z2 with trainerroad, 141tss and 2k kj gotta work on my nutrition game, the last 45 mins were a bit of a slog (higher HR at z2) and really hadn't eaten much all day. definitely the longest I've spent on the trainer and longest single ride in awhile, got a metric century jersey on zwift for what it's worth lol

I spent 90 minutes on Zwift to avoid the ATMOSPHERIC RIVER and when I was done I poked my head out of the garage: blue sky. Doh!
Version 7.0
3 hour endurance ride along the coast.
5 hours of solo sun today - the rain came early luckily.
race tomorrow.

Our race also got cancelled. Went out for 3.5 hours, 240 TSS.
Did 1x20 and 4x10 at 97, 109, 100, 98, and 104%
No planned targets, just did what felt good.
Rear derailleur cable snapped after the last one and spent the evening replacing it. Funny, cuz a couple years ago, at the race that was cancelled today, my rear cable snapped and I went solo for 4th switching between 50/11 and 34/11.
Today I realized I had a misadjusted limit screw so it had to tighten it. Got it into the 13 and rode to the bike shop.

Didn't feel like driving 2 hours each way to the race that only had 3 teammates and no one else preregged for. So more threshold stuff. 10, 15, 15, and 10.
Version 7.0
3 hours of endurance on Saturday riding along the coast 2 hours or endurance on Sunday riding through Camp Pendleton. The weather both days was okay with overcast skies and light winds. I am getting ready for a trip to Mallorca Spain for 10 days of riding.

550 TSS for me last week on an honest and current ftp. Didn't feel too bad at all. But that's a lot for me.
Most of it came from doing some EM time before the weekly Strava segment hunting group ride or hammer ride. Whatever you call it. The solo part was 25mi and pretty easy going. To give an idea of the hammer part, that brought the NP all the way up to 230w for the entire almost 50mi. That's quite a bit for me! Maybe not you guys.
This week I have an ITT mid-week. Then next week, back to less HIIT and a longer (for me) outdoor ride.
I need to get that long ride up to about 3000-3500 KJ.
I hate the idea of it, but some lower RPM steady state is in my future those coming weeks. After sucking it up and bothering to read up on it, people are right. It works. And it's specifically what I need in May.
Not sure it's possible to lose more weight. It's holding on for dear life now. I wanted sub 150lb, but that ain't happening soon.

2x30' on the TT bike. Position needs tweaking, but I did get a KOM on a longish segment so I was happy with that.

Just finished stripping power data from 10 rides, the 10 best efforts of the past month because my Smart Trainer was giving bad data. I had a few solid group rides but no efforts over 15 minutes.
Now I know how Lance feels. Getting stripped of my Zwift racing results against racers who are '60 kg' on the internet.
Rest week over (well, rest week + race) and after that shellacking I'm about 20 levels down from where I thought I was. Back to work.

did a trainerroad ramp test, not good lol I'm pretty sure it'll give me an estimate of 263 (I had been training with a 280 ftp since mid Feb with success). I seem to be getting worse and I'm feeling like making my stem lower might be why so I've turned it back to +17. I was pretty comfortable racing on -17 but looking back my RPE has been higher for a given power since I made that change in early March and had made lots of gains. The cycleops hammer is, in my mind, really consistent and I calibrate it to make sure. Maybe my change was akin to going to a TT position, so maybe changing back to not as aggressive will help, certainly have lost a lot of the confidence I had in Feb/early March lol
adding: did most of a 2x15 ftp session I like to use as a bit of a benchmark at 280 and with the stem at +17. Was able to do it ok, although maybe not recovered enough from the ramp test. I'll probably go with 275 for a bit and see how that helps with the over threshold intervals, maybe even 270. Just want to recapture the consistency I had for months that I seem to have lost.

Rest week randomness:
Road the MTB through the canyon for an hour into work. After work I'll ride it an hour back through the same canyon, then across Mission Valley to Florida canyon, then dick around a bit before heading up to the Velodrome to volunteer and do lap cards. Then I'll ride home.
Should be a bout ~3 hrs cumulative when it's all said and done.

Race ride today. Put in a big move to shatter the group. It worked. Missed the back as the paceline went past me when I was caught. Went hard to get back on. Chased a break back immediatly after and blew up. Felt like **** for many minutes after while I waited for the second group to catch me. Happy with the efforts, but I had a long standing health problem pop back up while I was at work today. Don't want to make excuses, but history says when this type of thing has happened to me in the past, I feel really bad aerobically for a few days. So that's pretty much the end of my intensity for the week until Saturday when we race.
Good thing I've got a little less than 2 weeks until my my first high priority race of the year.

Tuesday Night Worlds, I was about 70 watts under my usual for some reason, maybe from going all out on the fake Alpe du Huez on Zwift yesterday. This is pretty much going to be a hell week for my legs.
Ttoc6 Get it checked out if you haven't lately, I just dealt with asthma for years and after a trip to the Dr. and a change of meds its almost under control.

4 hours and 270 TSS today.
5x5 @110 w 2.5' rbi this morning. Wanted to make it a quick workout without getting too tired hence the short rest and lower end of z5.
Park race ride after work. My first of the year at this ride. Hard as usual. Had to put in a lap of chasing when several ones and twos went off until we were less than half the pack left behind. Set up perfectly for the final (uphill) sprint but had nothing left in the legs and lost it to 2 guys by a couple seconds.
Lastly, did an easy "burrito ride" where we sat around eating burritos, then went for a slow ride to lake Merced, up twin peaks and back.

Week off in Disney World. Lost 11 CTL and gained 8lbs. Best vacation of my life!
I felt a little fatigued on my Monday commutes, and then yesterday really struggled to keep the power over 105% of ftp on my 5X5. Still a bit fatigued riding into work this morning as well.
It's amazing how long it has taken me to build up my fitness over the last 6 months and to lose that much after 9 days off the bike was a bit of a motivation killer.
That weight gain tho...hard work to lose weight and maintain or even achieve gains doing this sport. Burn in hell Dipping Dots and Churros.

Easy recovery ride today. Nice weather, but windy. So my 1hr recovery turned into about 1.20.
I also got a full size frame pump (one that sits under the top tube) and new saddle bag today since I lost my old bag last week riding. Pretty stoked about the frame pump tbh. So useful. Always was envious of my friends that had one.

I'm doing the Tour of Zwift and it was a recovery day so I let my teammates Bodnar and Juraj go for stage glory while I tried (unsuccessfully) to keep it under 200w. I did keep it under 40 tss (33) though.
Down to 153 lbs, and over 4 w/kg for my ftp. That's 35 lbs since October, and I'm hoping to bottom out at 145 (65 kg). After that I'll have to hit the gym; I should do that now but its almost impossible for me to maintain a calorie deficit when lifting weights.
I guess this means I have to turn in my card for Team Thicc Bois
