1. build quality seems first rate (comparing it to a new high end Specialized seat)
2. its sold by Competitive Cyclist which is a high end retailer who certainly vets their merchandise
3. the few reviews at CC say its great

I just got one and have just started in cycling, so I am still "getting my seat." FWIW, I will say this:
1. build quality seems first rate (comparing it to a new high end Specialized seat)
2. its sold by Competitive Cyclist which is a high end retailer who certainly vets their merchandise
3. the few reviews at CC say its great

If you're riding Shimano with mechanical disc brakes, this is a really good upgrade opportunity - CC has a RS505 lever and caliper kit for $242 (retail is $500+), plus there's an extra 10% off of Shimano right now, bringing the total down to $218.

I'm not sure, but I also saw these on Sierra Trading post for $90! They didn't have my size, but it looks like they have 44s and a few below.

They also have Prolights for 100, but only in the orange color.

Merlin Cycles is a reputable site and they regularly offer extremely low prices but I agree, that one is hard to believe. It's no doubt a limited quantity close out type deal, there were 1 or 2 more down in that price range but they were sold out.
As far as Merlin Cycles goes, I've bought from them before and couldn't be happier. I've already made 2 orders with them this year, I trust them.

Is there a reason for this...marketing agreements, etc.?

The only thing I'm aware of being restricted is SRAM products, at least full groupsets. I've bought Continental, Shimano, Michelin, KMC brands specifically that I can remember off the top of my head. Was it SRAM products you were trying to buy?

Nope -- I was trying to buy a couple of locks by Abus. Price was great and wanted to gift a couple to some friends...the other misc items I can't remember. I reached out to customer service. I'm sure they will get back to me with an explanation/resolution.
EDIT: It was a Cateye wireless computer bundle. Price was at least $40.00 lower than any other online vendor

Anything I chose was not available to ship to the United States...even quoted me a price for not shipping it...and a total for items they wont send. Altogether a waste of an hour.

I have the same problem with Merlin. I tried to buy a few things and when I went to add them to my cart, I just got a message that the items were not available in my area.

No rhyme or reason to this mad purchasing season
Update on Merlin Cycles
"Matt" from Customer service replied that the main concern was weight. When I replied that others in this Forum purchased items far exceeding the weight of the items I had placed in the shopping cart, his reply was..."I'll get back to you..."
I think this horse is dead, so I'll stop beating it....too bad, looks to be a fantastic shop.

My last few orders from Merlin.
Less than a pound

2.5 pounds
-Jersey
-4 Conti Tubes
-Socks
-Bibs
5 pounds
-SPD-SL Carbon shoes
-Shimano 105 Brake calipers
-Shimano cleats

Their shipping usually free or less than 6 bucks. Shipping is not as fast as CRC, but customer service is amazing. Fantastic prices.

In the past week I have received a frame, bottom bracket, tape, crankset, headset, and a couple of other miscellaneous items from Merlin. Frame shipped separately from the rest of the items using a different company, but no issues getting across the pond.

Merlin support indicated that there are certain items they cannot ship for contractual reasons. I just happened to pick three of them when I visited the site.
