It was about 40 with a little sleet for today's CX race. The sun came out for my race. Arm warmers and tights weather. No jacket required.

I wear wool t-shirts for about three days when I’m racing offshore or cruising, and then just wash them in a bucket with some dish soap. Barely any stank.

Summers in PHX have made me think that underwear might be the next article that needs to be wool or nothing.

A parts bin build. This is the frameset that brought me to BF. It was a roadbike then. It's the first model Schwinn imported from Giant, in 1978. Nowhere on the bike is the name "Schwinn" 1020 Hi-Ten

Yup. I won't buy any socks or underwear that aren't wool. Rapha had some merino boxers in the Archive Sale recently for $25. I should have picked some up.

Wool socks are simply essential.

I was once driving to my sister's house in NY on I 84 on a wet drizzly day during early winter. I had reached Danbury, Connecticut just during rush hour as the sun was setting. I knew the road surface was turning to ice with every passing minute but no one was slowing down even a little bit. With such heavy traffic I was afraid to drive much slower than everyone else so my heart was working hard. Not too unexpectedly, a car just ahead suddenly spun out of control and was crosswise in my path. I did manage to get around by a miracle but my lifespan took a hit. This time of year especially we need to drive our own vehicles as well as those around us within striking distance.

For the record, the chain that I broke a few weeks ago on my Propel was a KMC X11 SL. Came off of Amazon. Wasn’t there a thread recently warning of counterfeit KMC chains?
