61cm Trek 14 speed early 1980's ready to ride 6'0 to 6'3
[h=2]61cm Trek 14 speed early 1980's ready to ride 6'0 to 6'3 - $225 (Lowell)[/h]
I for sale a vintage early 1980's Trek 14 speed roadie 61cm Reynolds 531 double butted giving frameset Shimano/Suntour mixed drive train, 27" alloy presta valve wheels and Continental Sport tires. The bike was recently tuned up with new gear cables, new brake pads and new bar tape so its ready to ride without any issues. The bike's paint does show some age but the Reynolds frames gives a buttery ride and a vintage Trek for under $300 is hard to beat. Sold for cash and pick up only. Please mention name, item, location and a phone number for a response all other emails will be considered spam. Thanks

Be nice if the details were listed in the ad. Just going off what I saw listed as components for a mid90s Atlanta.

This looks like an opportunity to me, though one has to strain to imagine it without splash tape and with a period-correct saddle...

I believe that is called a "berçeau" by the French. Or at least, it's very similar to one. The only pictures I've seen with that name attached have only had the first bend near the seat tube, not the second near the dropout. The extra bend may have been necessitated by the chainguard.

[h=2]TREK 520 TOURING BIKE 19" - $185 (Augusta, MN)[/h]TREK 520 TOURING BIKE 19"
This is a classic--Trek still makes the 520 and sells plenty of them. This one is old, a 1992, but is in fine working shape with brand new brake pads and good tires. Rack included.
I am the original owner.
Whoever buys this will be getting a lot of bike for not much money. A new 520 would cost over $1,000.
The cro-moly steel frame is well made and has touring braze-on points: triple water bottle mounts, front and rear rack mounts. Frame has clearance for fenders and wide touring tires. Pedals have SPD clips on one side so you can ride either with your bike shoes or street shoes.
The 700c wheels have 36 holes, 14 gauge spokes (adequate for loaded touring) and V-brakes. The shifters are on the bar ends, which is preferable for touring. Rear shifter is indexed, front is friction, which is nice for fine-tuning shifting.
I modified the front "triple" crankset so the smallest gear is very small, only 26 teeth, which should get you up just about any grade. It is very comfortable for long rides with medium to heavy loads on good roads from flat to mountains.

Bwa-ha-haaa! Didn't realize you were gunning for this one, too. Peter K. down in D.C. pings me every now and then asking if I'm ready to let it go. Maybe you two could enter the octagon, with the winner getting the Strawb?
Dayum. Ever since @pcb beat me to the last Strawberry .......
Alas, this one is too small.
