Yes, and they are often called pogies, although many people use the term “bar mitts,” which actually a brand name.

There are similar ones for motorcycles, they used to be called 'elephant hands' (back in the 1980s).

Back in the early 1970s my family lived in San Bernardino, California. A friend and I bicycled from north San Bernardino up to the village of Forest Falls in the SB Mountains during Easter break and stealth camped overnight in the forest just beyond the hikers parking lot at the far end of the village (about 40 miles one way). We used Schwinn Continentals with cheap rear racks and backpacking gear, we knew the weather would be nice so no tent or other excess equipment were needed (which helped a lot!) This was in the days before social paranoia set in and our parents approved of us going even though we were only 15 y.o. at the time. Tiring, but a great adventure.

2007 - MTB down a longish gravel road from southeastern Colorado to the Oklahoma panhandle. One overnight at the Black Mesa State park.
