Nice day for a ride. Upper 60’s in the mid-afternoon and cloudy.

Modern lugged steel = just right for me

A few more miles than yesterday.
A bit more sun than yesterday, about 70*f.

Carbon fibre fills your diet.

32.5 miles, 1500 and change elevation. Seems about my average with hills.

Well, I was going to do another 30+ ride yesterday, but I got a bad case of flattus interruptus which left me with post-patch anxiety for the rest of my shortened ride. I do seem to be getting better at reseating those pesky folding bead tires... or else the tires have been broken in for my wheels.

A slow recovery ride of 101 miles was ordered up and completed today after my 70th birthday ride of 141 miles last Friday.

I did an easy 20 miles from home to Canada road reservoir yesterday as I taper for next weeks longer back to back rides. I got my first flat tire in about 15 years when I road over a nail. Glad to say my flat tire fixing skills are still in tact although I am old school and use a specialized hand pump and not CO2. It was tough to get the tire as full as I wanted but I finished the ride. Maybe I should upgrade to C02 cartridges.

Went for a nice ride out in the country today. There's a light drizzle that's not too cold and it sure enhanced a lot of nice scents.

Yes, I went to the market on the bike an hour ago and it's really very very hot out there. What about the weather n your area?

I walked 18 holes, ate lunch and then rode 32 miles. It was really hot. I can tolerate heat pretty well but this NC humidity + heat is ridiculous. I got a stitch in my side and pulled over to let it subside. And with the heat I was intentionally riding easier than normal. It takes the enjoyment out of riding and forces a game of survival.

I commuted to work today. The 12.5 miles to work was cold to me at 60F, but the ride back home is another route at 13.6 miles with 95F temperature and no bike lane.

A few pics from today’s ride. First, the nicest garden I’ve ever seen on the road to White Oak Canyon Falls in Madison County. Next up, is the panorama view of the BlueRidge Mtns. from Hebron Valley Road. This road is loaded with holy rollers and is quite strenuous. And a pic of the Bianchi in the little shade I managed to find in the brutal heat. I am loving the Bianchi - the Di2 and ENVE wheels are superb - closing in on 1,000 miles in a bit over a month.

Finished a 2 day ride from San Mateo, CA to Costanoa and back on the next day. It was not super long by this forum's standards but it was a lot of climbing and the first bike tour I have done in many years. 45 miles each way with about 3200' of climbing each day. Lots of good sights to see. It was great and I can't wait to do more.

I managed 38 hard miles on a slightly truncated route in the mountains of VA. No pics today as I forgot my phone. I got a call from Chain Reaction Cycles in FL, my Domane is fixed. A whopping $470 for tires and wheel alignment, new Di2 cable and rear derailleur hanger, new cassette, tune up, handlebar tape, etc.
The bike was in a fall several weeks back, when a driver at a roundabout did not stop when I had the right of way. She never stopped....So there was that damage plus deferred maintenance.
So soon I’ll have two Domane bikes, as I ordered a 2021 SL7 with Di2. I ordered red so people can see it, and another 58cm, which is too big according to the Trek site, but I like larger frames. My present Domane is a 58. The new one will take about 2 months due to Covid, but I can slum it with the Bianchi (sniff, sniff).
I don’t post a lot in this thread, but I ride between 600 and 800 miles a month......

36.5 miles, 2,400 +change elevation in the back country of central NY, to Erieville on Tuscarora lake. A drinking village with a fishing problem. And a great place to stop.

I got in 62 miles early morning miles with lots of climbing. Glad I got it done before the crushing heat and humidity. I forgot to take pics until my last stop - look

at the size of this moth! The pic doesn’t do it justice at all.....
Met a guy on Specialized Venge doing a loop from Harrisonburg, which is two brutal climbs across the Shenandoah Nat’l Park. He was a little lost and asked for directions. That’s gotta be 120 miles and maybe 10,000 feet of climbing!
