Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got a 3 but Mrs John gave me a clue in an e-mail. The clue wasn't as obvious as the FB clue last week. I'm going to ask her to not do that.

The way I read it is you pay the 3 year fee up front, included in the price of the car, not any monthly charge after that. Also, it varies depending on the vehicle from under $1000 up to $1650, or so.
It's a crappy way to raise the price of a car and if there is sufficient backlash we will probably see either a discount on the MSRP or the stupid plan will be dropped.

OTOH maybe the person buying an $80k car won't be bothered by it.

I was barely out of bed this morning, at 7:15, and the electrician was here. I had texted him last evening, about having lost power to the refrigerator receptacle. Turns out it's the whole wall---- two receptacles. Since we're working with stone walls, the plan is to run a new circuit, complete with a sub panel for the new breaker. I gave him money and he went to the city for materials. We feel very fortunate to have found this guy. He's the first electrician we've found, here in the village, who understands the need for earth ground, and knows how to do it.

I was on a fire crew for a season, in northern California. Thankfully, we had no fires to go to. But we were ready. Once we went to another station to hold down the fort for a crew that got called up.

Speaking of which, my car told me one of its tires was low this morning. I checked and it was down to 25. So I pumped it up to 32 again, and felt around and sure enough, there's a metal object in the tread. Went to the tire store and because it's on the edge of the tread right at the sidewall, they can't fix it. As luck would have it, the tires are about due to replace in any case. BUT they didn't have those onsite, so they have to be shipped from Sacramento. I guess I'll just keep pumping them up till Tuesday or so.

32K miles. Not too bad for performance tires. The Firestones that came with the car barely made it to 20K.

No, but I did replace a clincher tire on my wife’s bike and a tubeless tire on my Colnago. I also replenished fluid on three other tubeless tires.
