I just flew into Pittsburg last week, and from what I saw, it looked like an awesome place to cycle. This was all observed from the air, so I don’t know how the roads are or drivers views on cyclists.

There’a a great network of MUPs in town and you can ride one all of the way to DC. I was considering driving and bringing my bike this trip, but flying is still a little easier

My oldest kid started middle school this week. It’s done a real number on my ability to ride now that she is up an hour earlier than last year. I normally like to be home before the kids wake up, but that means I need to finish my ride by 6.
As a result- I have ten miles so far this week 😢. I fly to Pittsburgh Sunday and am not home until Wednesday afternoon, so mileage next week isn’t looking good either.

This makes me feel better about my situation. Thanks for sharing.
It is gratifying to get a ride done super early, but it’s also a pain to wake up. Pros: cooler temperatures, less cars, stop lights can be ignored. Cons: Hard to wake up, Spiders, pitch black, spiders, the one car that does pass you is possibly drunk from the night before, the rest of the day you are exhausted, stores arnt open yet, if you do crash no one is awake to care. ask me how I know.

Thats dope, if they ever finish the mup from norfolk to Willyburg and Richmond to DC, I could ride from Norfolk all the way to Pittsburgh! Wife will approve as long as I am back by 830.

The thing about the Sante groupset is that there's a plastic cover that goes over the top of the headset. It's two pieces - a darker gray ring that goes around the wrench flats of the white upper bearing race, and then a larger silver piece that covers the rest of it.

So I can't really jam a 1" spacer in there.

Dark morning, brand new madone, vdot sign stand. The stand won. blew my front tire, bent my front rim, I got some pretty gnarly road rash and a really bad hematoba or whatever on my leg. Head also hit the ground. It was around 5 am and my wife didn’t wake up til 7. I was stranded for 2 hours.

Mrs. GeneJockey was talking about that. Living in CA, we tend to think of trees as a fire hazard, so seeing them all around a house gives one pause.

That's what I'm hoping. The way the medical system is at the moment, I might not be able to get the surgery before winter anyway.
I do admit to having pain so I might not be able to put it off for long. I see the CT ordering doc in two weeks and intend to get his impression from the CT. I'm hoping that he says it's not that bad.

I’ve been dealing with some issues lately that necessitated a CT scan. One of the incidental findings was an inguinal hernia. I knew that I sometimes have pain but I didn’t think much about it until my family doctor’s nurse called today to tell me that my guy wants to discuss surgery. Crap. We’re entering the perfect Fall riding season and I’m not in the mood for surgery.
