Wow, I wish we had trails like that around here, how long does it usually take you? All of our bike paths (that I know of) are crushed limestone. I think I said it before, but the Alan turned out completely awesome. Is that a Nitto bottle cage from VO?

Thanks for the compliment!
I do believe i purchased the cage from VO. It's floated around on several bikes of mine and I don't exactly remember...
It normally takes me 32 minutes (
) to get to work, but since I havent been commuting regularly since November it's about 40 now. Often I can ride home faster than I can drive home due to traffic.

Gorgeous weather here today for the AIDS/LifeCycle training ride. We did the Tiburon loop, leaving from the NW parking lot at the Golden Gate Bridge, through Fort Baker and Sausalito, Mill Valley bike path, climbed Camino Alto, then through Corte Madera to Paradise Drive along the east side of the Tiburon peninsula. We had lunch in Tiburon, then back to the Golden Gate Bridge parking lot via the Mill Valley bike path, Sausalito, and Fort Baker. Total mileage: 32.8.
It was a fun day.

Yakkay makes cool ones. My head is 61cm (!) though, too big for even a "large..."

Wow, these are some great reports posted the last few days.
Banjomole, you really should get a helmet. Nothing looks dorkier than brain damage. It really does happen. One of my best friends took his own life after suffering brain damage from a moped accident. He just couldn't deal with it. Another friend of mine fell around Solvang, and broke his helmet in two. He probably would have died with out it.

Whew...headed out to Oakland University here in Suburban Detroit to take a few laps. Didn't anticipate actually HOW cold it really was. 10.6 miles was all I could take at below 30 degrees, and snowing. So much for Spring eh? Boy am I slow/out of shape....

The weather's been beautiful all week while I've been forced to work (60 hours 
), and when Saturday finally rolls around we get weather. 
Despite the impending storm, we managed to grab ~23 miles and 2000' of climbing doing the locally popular "Three Bears" loop. The last descent back down to the car got a bit misty as the weather closed in, and was made interesting by gusting crosswinds while descending at 40mph. We managed to make the local hofbrau well in time to avoid getting rained on, and finished up the ride with hot turkey/stuffing/cranberry sauce sandwiches and great conversation.
A short ride, but a nice way to spend some time.

Capo #1 and I did the 25-mile / 40km round trip to and through the Torrey Pines State Reserve, going up the steeper so-called "inside" Torrey Pines Park Road, for those familiar with the area. About halfway up my chain began to skip on my largest (23T) cog. The only damage was to my ego, but now I was faced with having to do a second-gear (38/21) start on about a 10+% grade. Fortunately a couple of hikers said, "Want a push start? It's Tour de France time!" They got me going, and I continued to the top.
When I got home I replaced the chain, which had just barely reached Sheldon's magic time-to-replace length of 12-1/16" per 24 half-links, and both derailleur pulleys, which were surprisingly worn down. My Campagnolo derailleur now sports Shimano pulleys salvaged from my junk parts bin, but everything seems to be working much better now.

We had some nice weather in the area today, so my wife and I got out for a little ride at the Rodale fitness park.
It's a neat little place with a one mile track that is closed to road traffic. The left lane is for walkers, middle lane for roller bladers, and the right lane is for cyclists.
Lots of folks were out today with the nice weather and I took a few pictures of the trip.

And down the other side. You can get some good speed on the downhill. I hit 30mph without trying too hard. I was trying to catch that chick in the blue jacket. What a hottie.

I usually like going up the inner route of Torrey. It's steeper, but shorter than the road.

The storm that blew in Saturday afternoon blew out Sunday morning, and left some gusty winds and cold air. Still, it was good enough for a ride and Bikingshearer called up to coax me out. We did a nice 23 mile loop, and managed to actually plan a route to take advantage of the wind.
We had a great time, and even got to take a run down a new road that had a pretty thrilling descent. Pretty much straight down with no traffic, excellent sight lines, wide, new pavement, and no cars. According to Garmin, I managed to practically free-fall at just over 50 mph. Woot!
I was astride my Cinelli today, and Rich was mounted on his stunning new (to him) Fuso. I finally got tired of waiting for the damn Brooks B-17 to break in (670 miles worth), and did a Brook-otomy (or is is a Brook-ectomy?) before the ride. The white Flite Ti looks a lot better, weighs about 3 pounds less than the boat anchor Brooks, and is a much better fit to my sensitive-yet-manly backside.

Machin Shin, it's nice to see your modern bike out on a ride (the name eludes me) and that trail looks awesome. It's a good idea to split the lane...

Mostly Mischief
First I had to pick a ride. Unlike some here at C&V, the choices are not legion! I have 4 to choose from, left to right: Centurion Equipe with late 80's Campy, Gazelle 753 with Dura Ace 7400, Gazelle A-Frame with various stuff and a full Campagnolo Nuovo Record Razesa. A gentle breeze played with the precariously balanced bikes as I, rather hastily, took this picture. The dreaded domino like collapse would most certainly have left me in a sour mood, but all went well.
Beautiful day. Very windy, typical spring mountain weather. Also my favorite conditions, hard down valley blow, maybe 15 knots, giving a real workout for the first half and a cruiser high speed return. Today I did some 35 miles roundtrip, from our cabin to halfway up the valley. None of bigbossman's green grassy hills here yet. But then we all know what his turf looks like the rest of the year..

Unfortuntaely no pictures today, but I did ride!
Rode a few miles to my girlfriend's sister's house to help move some furniture and biked home against the wind (rough!).
Tomorrow I'm going to check out a bike exhibit we have in San Jose. I'll take a few pictures and share them with you all since the stuff on display is pretty awesome!

Rode some more today. The 33 miles run to Seattle yesterday wasn't enough, so I rode another 11 miles. Also took the opportunity to do a shake down on my Look.

Just to the grocery store, but stopped for a few pics of the bike on the Rock Creek Trestle that is part of the Capital Crescent/Georgetown Branch trail here in D.C.
