WOW...this is some sick stuff...I am amazed at the craftsmenship....That is something i would like to do...Naw...i ain't crafty enough...maybe i could do the carbon stuff...more like fiberglass i guess....

Balsa wood and fiberglass frame, something I wanted to try. It rides very nice, the stiffest frame I've ridden. It weighs a bit less than the full suspension aluminum frame it replaced.

Starr Cycles Frame #3
I'm still at the hobby stage of framebuilding and just completed my third frame. My first was a silver brazed lugged road frame that has about 6000 miles on it. The second frame was a fillet brazed 650b mountain bike that I have been hammering on all this year with no signs of failure. This is my second fillet brazed frame and the first one that is not for me. A close friend wanted a custom 24" singlespeed mountain bike for his son and trusted me to build it for him. The front triangle is True Temper 9/6/9 tubing with a 25.4 top tube and 31.8 down tube with an external butted 9/6/1.2 seat tube. The chainstays were custom bent from 3/4" .035 4130 tubing and the seat stays were custom bent from 5/8" .035 4130 tubing. The dropouts are 2souls EVO2 sliding dropouts( the sliders are not attached in the pictures)

Found this forum the other day, and it would have been sweet if I had found it a year ago...
Anyway, that didn't stop me rocking right into a spot of framebuilding to create a suitably sized and specified daily commuter. Here is a pictorial view of the progress on my first (and hopefully not only) frame - I will let the pics do the talking as I have done quite enough of that in the blog; https://pogwardbicycleindustries.blogspot.co.nz/ There is still a bit to go until I consider it finished, but that point is getting pretty near...

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
My customized Phillip's 20 seperable / foldable touring bike... I replaced the rear triangle and built a new fork, added guides for the new cable routing, and added bottle braze ons and the powder was done in our shop... it is a dual stage brown / copper.
Handbuilt wheels are on Suzue cartridge bearing hubs laced to Sun Rhynolites, the Suntour freewheel was also custom built up in my shop.
I still have to build a new stem... will use a 1 inch straight quill stem and a 1 inch threadless headset that I may or may not make custom depending on what I have here for 1 inch threadless parts.

Touring/Commuting Build
Hanging out at Donner Pass Summit 7,135' Tahoe, CA with my daily commuter. Sizing and fit heavily influenced by the Rivendell guys (they are a block from work.) Carved up Pacenti lugs and fork crown, True Temper tubes and Paragaon Machine Works dropouts, but I'm still waiting for my "brand" decals...

The jig is all Minitec 20.1067 45X90 UL plus a whole lot of custom turned parts, I am happy to post up the CAD file if anyone wants it, although all it shows is the Minitec layout and the fasteners...

my Frame. Sorry for the shotty pic. I plan to pull her apart & put proper paint on her, life gets busy...fast. Anyhow, I like DT shifters, steel frames & feel the "wheel" has been the biggest improvement in modern bikes. So I built up my dream ride using Zero Uno tubing & a geometry that I have found on my favorite handling bikes. What I changed? I sucked the rear wheel up a bit, stretched the reach, out of square opened up the rear triangle for a bigger hub. Result, a very fast steel bike @17lbs. With room for imrovement, if someone wanted to get a little "weight weenie"...
