Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Litespeed is starting to look more like a bike, as I work my way through the interim build.

I changed the 120mm Pro Chrome Corsa stem in the picture for a 110mm Nitto Dynamic The mix of bright aluminum with gray titanium is enough, Tossing bluish-gray stainless steel on top of that is just too much. That, and I think it will work better with a 110.

I like the triple. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to leave my bike with the double in Phoenix, unless I end up somewhere flatter. I'm getting too old not to have a 30t chainring.

Is that a Sachs RD? Don't see those much these days.

Yeah. It came with a 170mm Racing T crankset with a cracked NDS crank - somebody greased the spindles. I happened to have a 75mm Racing T, and the BB that came with it feels glassy smooth, and it's the next level up from the one I have so I thought I'd just leave it and use it with my cranks.

It came with First Generation Chorus Ergo levers, but the hoods were ripped. And short cage Chorus RD, which seems inadequate for the spread of gears. And I happened to have Sach New Success long cage RD and Ergos (also First Generation). 8sp Sachs Ergos with Sachs RD work with Shimano spacing, so I put together a wheelset with that looks matched, but is actually an Ultegra/MA3 rear and a Chorus/Reflex front. The FD that came with it is a Racing T, so I'm keeping that on it.

Like I said, though, this is just an interim build. For the final build, I'm planning something much more modern. I prefer doubles to triples, and I don't feel any need to keep this bike C&V.

I find the first snowing day of the season sort of exciting, pretty, etc. and brings back a lot of pleasant memories as a child.

I find the first 0°F day absolutely depressing.

Back at work. About 1/3 of my staff is out due to illness and/or quarantine. We are trying to do as much telemedicine as possible since 5 of the usual 6 front staff people are out.

Phooey.

Today's forecast calls for a high of 74A. 18° lower than yesterday. It appears the cold front has arrived.

A propos of nothing in particular, I can't believe how much people seem to eat on casual/training rides. Actually, I can't believe how much they eat in general.

I remembered to put the SportWagen in the garage last night, so Mrs. rjones28 didn't need to remove snow and ice this morning.

I generally don’t eat at all unless it’s over 50
