Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My sprint actually got better last year but it just takes me too long to get there. The real fast guys are 5-10 feet ahead of me in a flash, and stay at that distance the whole time. I need to fix that.

I bought some Tornado hooks from Home Depot yesterday. Nice use of back closet space and pretty sturdy.

Ski season is around the corner.

Back when I was young and racy, I could never match the guys with the short and fast acceleration in last 100 yards, and if I waited to react to them, I had no hope. What I figured out is that I was at my best winding up a 53x11 from 200+ meters and holding it to the line. It forced everyone else to react to my game, and play to my strengths. Wins started happening after that.

It's apparent you have difficulty apologizing. That's OK, some people do.

We're going to make this a teachable moment. I'll post a proper apology below. Study it carefully, then "like" it to show your agreement with it.

Apology pre-accepted.

Dear Velo Vol,

I'm sorry that I have fussed about you not posting original photos on this forum. I rather selfishly sought to make unreasonable demands on your time.

After giving it more thought, I realized that you are a very busy person, and often can't be bothered with taking and uploading images here. Yet, despite your severe constraints, you somehow manage to find something that perfectly illustrates what you are discussing. I sometimes marvel how you bring multiple media together.

You are one of the best posters on this forum, and I look forward your top-notch posts.

Sincerely,

rjones28

How long have you been boarding? I've never tried it and the only times I ever skied was XC. I thought that was fun and I would try it again if I lived near snow.

You could live here all your life and never see snow up close. Mrs John saw snow for the first time several years ago when a freak storm came down to about 2000 feet.

Yes. I have decided I need to get out of their sight and wind it up a bit before they go.

I tried all manner. My best results were when the pace was high throughout the race, and not having to break stride to dodge the guys that were running out of gas on the last lap. Keep in mind, we race with the 50 Open guys, and a lot is dictated on their crap too.

The "Sprinter's Gap"? So when you pass them you're already going much faster?

I've found this is harder to do in Zwift racing than it is IRL, because they can set their 'camera' to see you coming.

At least try to time it so I might be going at least as fast.
