Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I filled a position in November that I’d been having a hard time finding candidates for. Posted in August. Finally got the woman onboard, things were going well until she joined a meeting using her login /email from a direct competitor. Turns out, she lists a consulting company she owns on her resume, actively works multiple full time jobs and hasn’t gotten caught until now. It took two days for legal to approve firing her.

And she's so competent.

Also the sort who's going to ruin WFH for the rest of us.

My question is, “Why two days?”

I am not in the IT field, but how can you send out a group invite without scanning the email addresses? If you work at company XYZ, why wasn’t any email address NOT ending XYZ.com not immediately flagged?

Also, agreed - this is the garbage that is going to get WFH nixed. At the very least, this calls for a good old fashioned tar and feathering.

Ah, that's better! 59 Real World miles on the Litespeed. Quite chilly by Peninsula standards, it was about 40 along the floor of Crystal Springs Canyon. I got a chance to try my new LeCol jacket and PI AmFib tights. The latter may be just a touch too small - my left patella is a little sore along the outer upper edge where it was repeatedly pushing against the resistance of the fabric. But aparf trom that, they're great. The jacket was also just what I wanted it to be - a base layer underneath and it was just right.

A lot of haze this morning, plus some fog at lake level.

After a couple sizeable rainstorms, plants you'd have sworn were dead have all sprung back to life.

This documentary outlines the genesis of Danger Zone, it happened accidentally when was working on the Footloose theme song

NSFW the language starts right away in this one. I might have to sit down an watch a few more of these tonight, it's been a few years.

She was running multiple incognito browsers logged in to different health plans through MS Teams. She forgot to switch before logging into our meeting.

She also was in a 4 day meeting with herself so that she’d appear to be “in a call” for days straight.

Reminds me of the straight white politician who forgot to change to his sock puppet account before claiming to be a gay black man who supported him.

I suggested Mrs John make us a batch. She seems receptive to the idea so we'll see. The internet says people use avocado oil, is that a good choice?

But what is your company’s stance on the tarring and feathering? That’s not a convo legal has to be a part of.

niiiice

did my first true century today (last 100+ ride had a little battery assist here and there heh), it was chilly in spots, with some frost on the ground in the deep shade at higher elevations, but pretty perfect otherwise. blue skies and almost no wind!
