Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got my beater bike finished up today. A 2013 Felt F1, Sram red shifters, red rear der and crank, force front der. Williams saddle, seat post/bars/stem. Sram branded breaks. Easton EA90SLX wheels (had the wheels for a few years now).

Bike weight with pedals, bottle cages, Garmin sensor and mount (as pictured) 14 lbs 10 oz. This is a crash replacement for my 2011 F3 which I found a crack in. Felt refused to warranty it even though I had never crashed it (said it was a compression crack....whatever). Now I can put the Colnago M10 up for special occasions .

Only ridden it 7 miles so far but its geometry is pretty much exactly the same as my 2011 F3, but it's lighter and should be more ridged. I loved the F3 and could ride it 15 hours straight with no issues.

Beater bike? Geez, can't imagine what you'd call my main bike.

Yeah, I was kind of joking but since I had planned on making the F3 my everyday bike when I bought my Colnago, but now that its been replaced by the F1 I have to pick one to be an everyday bike and it's going to be the F1 since the Colnago is just to pretty to put 10k+ miles on a year. I'll save the Colnago for a "bling" bike when the occasion presents itself :-)

Oh, did I mention how awesome my wife is....I think she's scared "fat me" will return, so she keeps me supplied in nice rides to keep me interested.

Building up as a birthday present for my gf.

One of these for my beater bike. I don't like how it fit with my Vuka Sprints on my main bike. It wasn't centered, and I am a bit ocd.

I was wondering if anyone knows about something like a locking topcap? Or something that will negate someone trying to take my stem and bars and fork so easily. Thanks.

Picked up a trainer and brought my baby indoors...could not take the treadmill (no love for running and hard on my knees); loving it so far! I got a nice Cyber Monday Deal from Performance....trainer with mat/front tire elevation for under $150 shipped.

Got these one the way.

And some Cannondale skewers to use until I find a great deal on some Shimano Dura Ace or Ultegra, etc.

Hoping these tires work as good as some older Michelin tires I had for puncture resistance. I hate flats.
Cheers
Michael

Picked up a practially new Tiagra 12-30 cassette to replace my current Ultegra 11-28. Hopefully give me a little more gear for some of the tougher climbs out here. Will install it when I get my new KMC chain this week.

Assos winter bib knicks (3/4 length).

They'd better be warm for the price of them...

I started a $10/month sub to TrainerRoad. So far it's MUCH better than a trainer with nothing but a tv or a video.

I have the regular cage 6700 derrailer.
The person who sold it to me bought it to test on his bikes with similar set up. It fit his bikes so he picked up a couple Ultegra 12-30 and is running them on his bikes now with similar set up as mine.
I also did alot of reading and read many were successful. I'm currently running 50/34 compact and 11/28 rear.
