Any body have any experience with Stronglight Speedlight?
I am looking for something a little more outrageous and European classy 1980's for my next build and this looked interesting. The Mistral is also on my short list (thanks to the posts here!)
I don't have a personal favorite but Sugino Super Mighty and Sugino AT have certainly served well over the years.

1" actually. They got Deore-specific Dyna-Drive pedals. I liked mine, since they had a huge platform that was kind to my big feet.

Pedal to the medal
Not too familiar with cranks besides manufacturer names, but aesthetically, I like fluted, drilled cranks.

I had 2 C-Record bikes, and really never did get the appeal. Happily sold it all off, except for 1 scratched up crankset down in the basement somewhere. Much preferred the Super Record look and wish I kept my SR crankset. I like the more modern Campy cranks too.

Here's a really nice one....
But so far, I found it a bit hard to figure out what bike to use this beauty on.....
Topline!
Super light, not so old but not so new either... And then I'd really like to use it on an American frame because it's an American crank.
Maybe finally an early 90's American weenie build with other weenie 90's American components (Pauls?)? but what frame would that be? A US custom builder frame most likely, if I can ever find one I like...Maybe even Ti.... Merlin??
I think I found the right big chainring for it from Vuelta, but no luck so far for a proper looking inner ring....
A crankset to bike build project in progress, I guess....

I see it as an interpretation, that way it's just a nice try. Still I would of thought it would have made the list way before the White Industries crank

I have to disagree Repechage; I have a pair of these on my Colnago and found the quality of the product to actually be quite high in construction, fit, finish and definitely in multi-tooth count compatibility. I think Jan did a damn fine job having these made, and they're a real testament to the Herse name.

I'm actually considering Chrome Molly's suggestion of having only one ring on the crank with a wide ratio rear. The idea might go with the minimalist weenie build I'm thinking of...although many Topline crankset owners do install an inner chairing on the crankset, even though there is no ledge for it on the back side of the spider arms. Anyway, IIRC, these 130BCD cranks were mostly sold as their "Road" model (Their dedicated BMX crankset had a smaller BCD), so using it as a double does not really break the rules on them.....

The Drive Side is Within
I have one of thse Shimano 62xx biopace triples mentioned above, but I really dig the Sakae SR forged swept back crankset on my Alyeska.
There's a really beautiful photo of a Trek 520 sporting these somewhere on Flickr. I should find it again and post it....

Ofemga or Sakae....
The BCDs are different but the shapes are just too similar to be a coincidence...
