The chain I have now only has a couple of hundred miles on it, so we'll see how it sounds first.

I rode my last chain/cassette combo for like 5000miles. Switched new chain, it worked fine. Switched cassette over to other bike with another new chain, it was fine. I think going forward I'll just ride a chain/cassette combo until it dies, then replace both.

Only very slightly. Going from 11-26 to 12-26. I'd rather have a 16 than an 11.

I once had that mentality but soon realized that your shifting will suffer. I replace the chain at 0.75 wear, with the cheapest 10s chain I can find (currently the Sram 1070 from Performance).

I have that park tools chain check thing, the one with the sliding scale that reads 0-1%. Brand new Ultegra 10s chain read at over .05, into the "replace" zone straight out of the package. I'm not confident in the tool.

Shimano doesn't have a tool specific for those 10 spds? Thought they did. Also keep in mind if the chain is "Waxed" instead of wet lubed it might make the wear seem different, but that would usually work in the opposite affect.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
Ritchey torque key, Fizik bar tape, and -- for free -- some butterfly/trekking bars. I slapped the bars on my city bike, and I'll see if I like them. I can already imagine tearing off the foam grips and using bar tape instead.

I bought a used Tacx Fortius trainer. I got a great deal on it, and had an extra computer with a good video card hanging around the house. Took awhile to set the software up, but it is really fun/hard. I have been off the bike getting a shoudler replacement, but can ride outside as of last week. But, when I can't get outside, no excuses.

Chases Dogs for Sport
Because of lots of miles in this spring's monsoons, I have to do an overhaul of various portions of my bike. But while I do the overhaul, I'll make an upgrade or two. This week's orders:
Shimano DA 7810 pedals
7900 bottom bracket, chain, two cassettes, brake cables
7970 Di2 shift upgrade kit
HED Ardennes wheelset with Powertap Pro+
Vittoria tires, Michelin tubes
Fizik saddle & bar tape
Now, to figure out how to Craigslist/ebay half my possessions to pay for it all -- and to install it all without missing a workout.
