That sucks. We have those seams in Arlington/Mansfield as well. I almost hit one on Saturday that was about 1.25" wide and displaced about .25" Fortunately, saw it before it bit me.

I did go down due to something similar last spring. Knee and shoulder took the brunt. You can still see a scar on my shoulder from the road rash. Wife was behind me and watched it happen. By the time I realized what happened, she was on the phone to the life insurance company.

Maybe the novice crowd has changed some. My last experience was around 15 years ago and they were whining about the hills coming up on the cue sheet.

Ouch - heal well and heal fast! Wheel-grabbers like that are dangerous - I would make a call to the city to report it.

Also, I hate to say it, but another few mm of tire isn't going to meaningfully improve your protection from crap like this and certainly wouldn't free you from the responsibility of looking out for yourself.

Didnt ride much outisde when I was in Dallas, but this was def. one of my biggest fears. Figured a car would be approaching from behind and I would have no where to go.

I'm the one doing the crashing apparently; as much a hazard to the newbies out there. There's a couple of sandbaggers with me that make the ride enjoyable. Realistically if they had a D group on Mondays I would hit that for a relaxed easy ride/recovery ride but Novice it is. Been taking it a touch easier in the 95+ degree heat and 15mph crosswinds we've been having because I just don't know how my HR will play out. We'll play more with C and eventually flirt with B after I get some miles back in the legs. The work and drink DFW lifestyle has not done any favors to getting back out and riding.

Oh we had a merge lane car-hero on our ride that almost waxed 2 people in front of me too. I was ready to go back to being inside-couch-bubble-boy after this ride.

Half of these rides take off 2-3 miles from my house and would be easily ride-able-to but I don't trust being a singular rider out on the roads in rush hour traffic. Gotta cart the bike on the back of the car to get there. Be a hood ornament on an f250 in a week of that practice.

It was made with Ron Zacapa 23 Rum, a Rye that I didn't catch, bitters, and Demerara. Magnifico!

I was close enough to a mup that I could access through this neighborhood. Veridian Park or something like that. Once I found that neighborhood, if I did ride outside, this is where I stayed.

That was River Legacy Park that is adjacent to the Veridian neighborhood.

A lot of cyclists us the RLP trail because the popular section (east) runs 5 miles to a turnaround, and there really isn't any intersectional traffic, only two access points, and not much pedestrian traffic. You can do pretty fast 10 mile loops. It gets a lot of tri folks working out because it is fast for the most part. It's also heavily shaded which is worth its weight in gold in the summer. Have to watch for stray kitty cats though.

The west section is not so good due to families and such due to it being closer to the playgrounds.

each lane is its own separate concrete slab around here; so the seam is just the two separating and creating a gap. not a deal at all in a car, but it'll end your ride on a bike pretty quick; you can basically fall into them as I did.

For the doctors out there, any reason I shouldn’t be doing low intensity riding while recovering from covid. I literally feel fine, and my HRV numbers, O2 saturation as well as my fatigue management (app uses my heart rate data) all say I’m functioning normally.

A friend of mine brought up myocarditis which concerned me, but from what I am reading, seems like that should only be an issue for people who were hit heavy by covid.

Riding from my house is great for me, but riding anywhere from work would be nuts - although I do see a lot of cyclists hereabouts. There are too many cars and big trucks going too fast with a bike lane that's too littered with stuff, and then that runs out and you're stuck riding on suburban stroads.

I beat the one on 64 a bunch of times, I don’t think I ever beat the ones on super nintendo. I was super young when that was out, and my parents screen time limit made it impossible to beat most super nintendo games.

One super nintendo game I want to play again is Jurassic Park. Talk about no help or idea of what to do.
