What happened to all the dog content in this thread?

Last night's ride on the Litespeed, the relative silence of the drivetrain allowed me to hear a *tick,tick,tick* sound, in sync with the wheels. It was not audible at <11 mph, nor at >22. I stopped 3 or 4 times to look for what it could be, running my hands over the tires and rim of both wheels, but mostly the front. Nothing. Plenty of pad clearance, no loose decals, no bits in the tires, no lumps on the tires, nothing on the rim. Eventually, I decided there was nothing compromising the tires or wheels, so I stopped holding back.

At home, I went over the tires as carefully as I could, and all I could find was a small cut, maybe 2-3 mm long, not as deep as the casing. No swelling, no bump, but the cut angled into the rubber so there's a very slight 'flap'. I'm pretty sure that's it. So, the tire is fine, lots of life left in it, but there's an annoying *tick* in the speed range I mostly find myself. I'm wondering whether it might work to Superglue the flap down. Anyone ever tried that?

I did that once with (I think) Shoe Goo. I wonder if some super glues might be too inflexible for the job, though - I'd try the flat kit rubber cement/vulcanizing fluid.

In related news, My front wheel had a run-in with a rabbit the other day. Luckily it barely affected my cycling, but for the whole ride I was wondering how the little guy made out. Now I'm wondering that again.

I was pretty surprised to read that this morning. The pics of the motor he shared yesterday looked pretty bad, but I figured with (practically) unlimited resources they'd be back on track for quali.

PS. I hope he brings 2 engines next year.

It reminded me of the little dog who ran in front of me recently. I saw him on the right shoulder so I moved to the center of the lane. He saw me and started going to the right, then turned and bolted across the street, just brushing the front of my tire.

I got bit by a little 10 pound dog while riding a couple of weeks ago. The bite didn't hurt, but I sure hope the cleat to the snout hurt it! That little sh*t is always loose and always chases, most of the time trying to run in front of the front wheel.

A few weeks back, riding through Portola Valley I saw what I think was probably a Bichon Frise next to the road. I was going over 25 mph, so I didn't really get a chance to look around for its humans, but it appeared to be off-leash. I hope the little guy or gal is okay.

I was just doing some maintenance on the Langster. I misremembered what my gearing is. I thought I set it up 48/18, but when I had the freewheel off to clean and regrease the threads, I noticed that I have a 16 tooth cog. A stouter ratio than I thought.

It's been fine for rides with gains of around 50 feet per mile.

I'm currently looking in to new, exciting, and portable ways of brewing coffee. The ****** little drip machine at the in-law's just isn't cutting it, and I do have a spare burr grinder that I can leave there, so I'm thinking about a Hario Switch... it's like a combo pour-over/immersion jobber. While it's a little more expensive than a pour-over cone like the V60, I wouldn't feel compelled to buy a gooseneck kettle to leave in VA.

I have one and I brought it with me the last time. Good results, but my main issue is that the cleanup is a more trouble than I'd like. Size and breakability are secondary concerns with the FP.

I'm too wussy for y'alls ratios. 34x16 on 26x1.5" wheels here. Thinking about going a little bigger though.

I sometimes yearn for one of these, I figure 37 might be just about right.
