Did you ride today?

Awesome ride!,
Man, what an awesome ride today! It was near perfect, weather-wise . . . around 74 degrees, light winds, clear blue skies. I am fortunate to live in a very rural area so there was very little traffic. I did 25 miles and wish that I’d had the time to do twice that. All the reasons I love to ride came together at once, and it was magical - the smells of the woods and fields, the feeling of the sun on my face, the hum of the wheels. I am never so content as I am when I’m riding. Perfect day!

Perfect ride today. 71* no wind and no issues with vehicles. Did 32 miles and climbed 3000’ in 2 hours. And did I mention the ideal conditions were in my man cave since it’s 23* outside with a foot of the white stuff?
Did ride 10 miles yesterday on my mountain bike on the nearby, rail-trail in about 10” of snow. Next time I will wear goggles since my eyes really stung with the flakes.
More snow in the forecast so may get out the mtb again since it’s such a workout.

We've got to get in a Food Run (via bike and trailer) on Weds., High Winds on Thurs., Major COLD front with possible snow Friday-Sunday!! Today, (Tuesday), it was sunny but a quite chilly breeze, not quite to wind speed and it might be my last chance to break 1800 miles of the year before the crud weather gets here! We headed out bundled up over to Manitou Springs 16 miles round trip with cold hands as the breeze turned into a headwind on the way home but I got to break my goal so it was a success!

Midland Trail into Manitou Springs at the Adams Crossing Trail Underpass, Cheyenne Creek flowing west.

We have had excellent weather here in NE Oklahoma this month. I planned to ride for coffee this morning but I went to my wife's office for coffee and donuts instead. However I found time to take this Raleigh out for 20 miles before I took lunch to her. Our MUP has a short but tough hill that I wasn't sure this old man could climb with the gears on this bike. But I made it without getting out of the saddle which surprised me. I also have not felt comfortable riding without hands for many years, but I tried it today for a short span and was able to do it until I realized I didn't want to damage this nearly 38 year old bike or my 57 year old body.

12k Today. I'll finish the year at 420k. (actually since June) My first year on a bike and given all of the lessons to be learned, gear to be got and motivations to be made, I'm happy with the result. And so...tonight. TONIGHT shall be applewood smoked ribs, cornbread, baked beans and strawberry salad!
Happy New Year everyone!!!!!!

Last ride of 2021! Not as many rides or miles as previous years but still a lot of smiles. Any time you can ride in shorts and short sleeves on December 31 it’s a good day. 80 miles with 3500’ of climbing.

Another Very Windy Ride!
17 miles in partly sunny 50 F and WIND gusts of up to 50 mph. Going west was the worst so I did as little west ad I could! 1st. Ride of 2022 for me and my second time in heavy wind since December 31 St. The pattern is either warmish and WIND or cold and snow! Got to get in the miles when we can! 👍🚴😁

Cold enough to freeze my water bottle
Did 25 miles late morning, temp in the low to mid 20’s. Sunny and very little wind so all in all not too bad but when I finished my water bottle wasn’t completely frozen but it was a bit chunky. The bar mitts I bought worked great, as well as the thermal underwear. Not ideal but at least I got a ride in before we get some snow.

I managed to get a quick 10 mile ride in after getting work done and before it got dark outside. I wasn’t entirely sure if there would still be a bit of ice here and there but things were still melted during the ride. The next three days it will be below freezing all the time so it may be icy in places. We shall see.

Did the Alpe de Zwift which is a faithful replica of Alpe D’huez. On one hand it was fun and on the other it was a slog. Great stats while climbing on distances of switchbacks, average heart rate and power. Tried to keep my heart rate between 150-160 but it snuck up eventually to 170+ at the summit since i had to finish strong. Felt good to have done it and will no doubt do it again soon.
Old farts still can climb and then collapse.

Just a short ride on Zwift this AM. We are in an unusually cold spell, with AM temps below freezing, and my bad knee is telling me in no uncertain terms that it will punish me severely for days if I dare exercise outside.

My wife Jo and I managed to ride 19 miles on a fantastic early winter day here in Co. Springs, CO. 60 F, sunny, no wind, no clouds! We had to go to our shop about a quick fix and then we just pointed the wheel and went different directions on several paths and bike lanes around the area, stopping for a brown bag lunch along the Pikes Peak Greenway. LOL, suppose to have light snow by tomorrow late aftenoon and only 35 F for a high on Sunday! We get what we call rollercoaster weather this time of year so we get in miles when we could!

17 quick miles very close to home before the afternoon storms with heavy clouds, wind and snow showers came on strong about 2 pm. here in Co. Springs, CO. Sunday will be 35 for a late afternoon high and winds so we will be getting our MILES on the home recumbent exercise bike!
Thank goodness for You Tube videos of rides in SUNNY, warm places when it's snowing and blowing outside!!

Thankful for a good ride - post snowmelt.
Just in case the legs might be weak after a few weeks off - rode the triple chainring vintage.
Low sun, mid 40s, 2nd consecutive dry day but damp and lots of wet trickling across the roadway, grit just to the right of the white.

Most Share wonderfully, but no room for error on this road

The local bog after our snow then rain event.

Good to know that I can climb to the vineyard - unzipped, disheveled, and happy as heck. Just bad at selfies.

Ugh... 13°F with a wind chill/Real Feel temp of 2°F according to AccuWeather. I managed to get in an easy 14 mile ride, but it took about an hour after I got back home for the sensation to return to my fingertips.
This sucks, I'm going back to Arizona!

Who says Winter bikes require fenders?
1983 AustroDaimler Vent Noir - frankenbuild - easy to ride the drops.

The 54/44 12/26 gearing keeps me off this bike too often. But a good ride today

Mossy wall and shortcut to the paved trail

The ‘gravel’ is rain washed and hard packed

Lovely to have green fields close
