Thanks for bumping this back up @mattm. Looks like I've checked most of mine
Also, bring that fancy TT bike down to Cascade, you can use it there!

on one hand i have won two races (smaller races) and about a month ago i was in the best shape cycling-wise of my life. On the other hand, i've sorta come to grips with the reality of how i hard i'm gonna have to grind to get these upgrade points (not just within the race, but in training). seeing as how i am a racer with no particular strengths other than a willingness to attack and several weakness (no sprint/cant climb). its kind of a daunting thought. i so envy the guys that can hide for 98% of the race and peek out of the crowd at the end for a podium
and i have a touch of mid-season burnout having raced almost continuously since January

I can feel the legs now after racing since January too, but a week "off" (~4 hours, only one race) helped a ton for me.

As for power, don't worry too much about what "category" the WKO/coggan charts put you in - I'm outclassed by a lot of guys power-wise, but can sometimes still beat them. You just have to race a lot smarter than them.

At least one century a month - Nope, but it was a dumb goal anyway
Do a few training crits (I had a bad experience a few years back and just stopped doing them) - Done
Compete in the local TT Series - Series hasn't started yet
At least 2 Road Races - Done.
Don't get injured - So far so good.
I was going to say Everest Challenge but I'm not sure if I'll be up for it. I'm going to take a serious look at my form in March and see if its doable. - Probably not this year (I actually want to compete and not be a tourist

My goal for 2014 is simply to race.
I missed almost the entire 2013 season recovering from knee issues. I only did two races - one I DNF'd because I was in too much pain and one I finished solidly in the field. But after both races, my knee swelled up enough to knock me back a lot in my recovery.
The one great advantage I have now is that I can race two to three times at each event, since most races around here have 35+, 3-4 and 3 or 1,2,3 fields.

I'm still working to regain my full race form, but it's coming. Results are not great, but improving, which is nice.

I don't think I have the desire to do a stage race right now. I'm not sure if I'll even hit all of the crits on the calender plus I would get blown up in the road stages down there

Um, top 10 in a crit despite not racing for over a year, off the bike last 8 months of 2013, and riding 1-3 hours a week in 2014. (file under outlandish)

Lol, thanks! But I'm a small fish in the big Norcal pond.. Also it seems like @rideaz has had a helluva season so she should be in the running!
I definitely have better goals for next year!

Hmm.. Well I know how I will base next season at least.. 2 more races and I can upgrade to 4 I think, no rush tho. The podium thing - yeah thats gonna be a bit harder than I thought. I crashed in a team training ride - maybe that doesn't count ... So at least one goal achieved lol.

I learned a lot over the season anyway, esp. with all the reading I have done here. I have no doubt I can easily make Cat 3 and should be able to get to Cat 2 in a few seasons. Right now, I am stoked to be riding my bike and training again.
Cheers.

Went ahead and updated my blog with goals, so here are mine for next year so far (may change the further into the offseason we get):
- Get better at crits: Start at least 5 and finish at least 3 P12 Crits
- Podium a P12 RR
- Do Joe Martin SR in the Spring
- Top 10 at Assault on Mount Mitchell
- Do at least 5 multi day Omniums/Stage Races
- Get more comfortable and fine tune aero positon on the TT bike
- Win a P12 TT
- Consistent training during the offseason, hopefully pushing that FTP higher than 4.8w/kg.
- Don't burn out/Have more fun. Do more group rides, more rides with the team. Take a more lax approach on training.
- Don't wreck! Rubber side down!
- Get a freaking new road bike. Stop being cheap and buy the %@#$ thing, even if the team doesn't cover it. The $300 frame has 25,000 miles, it's time.
- Upgrade to Cat 1 (long shot, but if I could get some results, it'd be peachy)

I'll probably recycle these goals for 2015 though.

I think he's talking about the Mt Graham HC in SE AZ? If so, it's October 5th, this is the segment:

do I have to live there to be a state champ?
That's my kind of climb! Make it 40 miles and I'd be happier.
