I know what you mean. This is my customized 1974 Schwinn Varsity. In this pic it had a Ultegra shifters, 50-34 crankset with a Jtek Shiftmate8/Wolftooth Tanpan driving an XTR M9000 Shadow+ derailleur across a 11-42 cassette, 700x42c tires & a host of other modern goodies for awesome gravel/commuter/training duties.

That Schwinn headbadge really threw people off at first glance. What a P.O.S.! Wait, *pointing at some shiny bit* what is that?

I still have this bike although slightly differently configured. Rapidly approaching 7,000 miles & counting.
