Bike-and-hike this afternoon, two hours riding and an hour hiking, leaving the bike hidden in the woods and strapping the seat and helmet on my pack while I walked. I found a new route through the trees and the ride was on some of my favorite hills, so I'm kinda glowing right now.

Back home after today's first cold and damp segment starting a bit after 1AM with 57 miles so far. Freshened up, made some hot oatmeal with cinnamon+raisins+peanut butter+choco chips and slices of frozen banana. Heading back out to top off today's riding at 100+ miles.
Should have stayed home and been happy with the 57 miles. Met the Tuesday morning group for an expected lively ride. Started off nice enough but then the hormones began to kick in and got chewed up then spit out the rear with the accelerations and speed. Wound up solo again for another 50 miles. 107 total = a good day

Thread drift: What's the deal with LimeBike, is it exactly what it appears to be, a dock-less bike share program?
I just saw those for the first time on a recent ride through Yonkers (NY). Seemed like the last place you would want to have a non-lockable bicycle, but what do I know?
[edit: Now that I look closer at your pic I see the built-in rear wheel lock, guess that explains how they're not all in some hooligan's basement.]
Back on topic: I commuted today, will wind up with The Usual ~19 Miles™

22 miles Tuesday afternoon. Was supposed to be a rest day but the temp was in the low 70s and a bike forums friend sent me some classic Scott aero bars to try. So, what the heck. It'll take awhile to get used to the aero bars but it seemed to help on a couple of modest climbs with smooth pavement.

8 miles this afternoon. No rain, but roads wet and lots more rain coming in next day or two. But, mid-40's today, although will be getting cold again this week.

28 miles Wednesday night. Supposed to be a rest day after three hard workout rides the past four days. I should have stayed home. Hooked up with the usual night group ride but it was all new-to-me folks, half my age, and they pushed harder than usual. My legs were dead. I dropped out after a few mile and rode home at my own pace. Treated myself to a consolation cuppa coffee and chocolate donuts at 7/11. Found a dollar in the bar parking lot on the way home.

Tuesday's 107 miles was a combo ride. 57 on the '83 hybridized Paramount then 50 on the 2013 Giant. Picked up the Roubaix yesterday after warranty work and rode a nice 113 miles today. NICE and COMFY.

This evening, up to the top of the shoulder of the mountain then hang a north and do the steep fast descent along that limb into farmland, mess around up there then reverse course and return. Just a fantastic ride. 72F at dusk, 1 hour 15 min total time.. Fall a year ago that hill was completely kicking my a$$, it was so intimidating, and now it's a can't-wait ride.
It'll be 30F in the morning. I'll be thinking about why it's harder to ride when it's cold, and whether it has to do more with physiology, psychology, logistics, atmospheric density, or the air resistance of all those clothes.

Left work an hour ago and it was 28F with light snow blowing. By the time I got home there was a massive one inch of standing snow!

On Wednesday during the warm spell I was speculating on how riding seemed so much easier when I was doing some steep ascents in the warmth. Did another nice more mellow ride on Thursday before the cold set back in. I can say from riding the same high speed downhill numerous times that wearing a jacket will normally scrub a few mph's off my coasting speed.

I rode 35 miles in 42 degree rainy weather. My toes got really wet and cold. I guess I should have checked the forecast.......

Just back from a library run (returning William Gibson - Burning Chrome) plus an extra ten miles. 47F, gray skies, gusty at best, but often worse.
That makes sense. Like a big speed brake. I didn't know how dramatic the difference was since I don't usually go from full winter gear one day to shorts and a t-shirt the next.

Saturday: 30 mile group road ride in 18°F temps with >18mph wind. That was...interesting.
Sunday: 75 mile group road ride in 30°F temps with almost no wind. That was a different kind of interesting; I don't think I've done a ride over 50 miles in two or three months.
Today: Oh hell no...

Yes!
Sunday afternoon: 50 degrees, MTB training ride at Folsom Lake with my sons (they are on the High School team).
Monday (This morning): Road ride, 30 degrees, frosty early morning ride before sunrise and work. Winter morning rides are probably my favorite.

12 miles Tuesday afternoon. I was supposed to be resting and recuperating from a sinus infection. But it was sunny outside so I took the road bike out to the parking lot for some photos to send to a friend who sent me some classic Scott aero bars. It was just too tempting. But I knew if I went back inside to get on my shorts, jersey and clipless shoes, it would become a whole big deal and workout instead of just a ride.
So I just wore my soft sole walking shoes, jeans and hoodie for a ride around the neighborhood. The Look pedals poked through the soles so it forced me to gear down, spin easily and just enjoy a leisurely cruise.
Most pleasant ride I've had on the road bike in months. And only 2-3 mph slower than my usual maximum effort speed.

Turned the computer on at 12:15AM yesterday and off at 11:09:29. Needed to get out to just pedal away while on the bike. No hills to ascend for gravity/climbing resistance or to descend, so coasting is almost non-existent. Extra effort when pedaling into the wind or increasing speed but overall a boring ride so just how I like it.

41 miles on a pleasant Valentine's Day afternoon. Took the Univega hybrid to be sure I'd take it easy and not turn it into a workout. Saw a friend I hadn't seen for a month or so along the gravel/chat trail and chatted for awhile. So the chat trail is appropriately named.

35 mi. on Lake Okeechobee dike. On track to reach 75-80 mi before GASP100 in early May. Longest ride this year and body parts feel good at the end.
