My Grand Patina Jubile
I think this sat in the sun for 20 years or more. Not much rust. It came complete and maybe all original but with SR 2 bolt post and SR pedals. I don't intend to paint it. I smoothed the sun damaged paint down to a solid layer with wet 600. Rubbing compound is next and then a few coats of wax.

Got a few projects in the shop currently. Just finished rehabbing a monster Peugeot Mixte . I think it was 58 cm. biggest I have ever seen. came out great. I still have the French mystery bike frame hanging . I had it all done then screwed up the paint. I am waiting for it to harden up before I sand and re coat. Just finished painting the 72 Botteccia frame. Lemon yellow . I ordered a decal kit for it, a first for me as it is not my bike, destined for sale by the bike exchange, but I really wanted to do the decals on this one. I have all the campy bits it needs to make it period correct . This will be a show bike and possibly hung on the wall at the shop store. I noticed that my friend Craig had a Botteccia frame at his shop that looks to be the same vintage. I asked if I could measure the position of the decals and he told me I could have the frame. It is the base model, no chrome , but the head badge is like new, so I am going to use the badge on my yellow bike.
I have a Bianchi Veloce Reparto Corse, Tig welded steel frame with carbon forks and Campy Groupo on the stand right now. I was surprised when I stripped it down that the frame( with bottom bracket and steer tube bearing races installed), weighed 5.2 lbs. That seems awful heavy for a 55 cm frame. Two issues I am seeing are that the rear derailleur cage spring seems week, and the shifters weren't working when I took it apart. Hopefully some wd 40 will loosen them up.
One surprising thing I found was that the Campy Daytona triple crank spider has a long crack that went from one side of the bolt hole to the other about 4" long. I replaced it with a Datona double crank that is marked 10 speed on it . hopefully it will work with the 9 speed cassette in the rear.

More progress on the finest tonight. Eventually I will replace the tires/tubes.
I’m going to test ride to make sure I like the new stem length. After that, I’ll wrap the bars and try to find some brake hoods.

I want to report that my new chain care technique is working great, but I forgot to collect data. I'm using Chain-L, and I clean and relube after (almost) every time the bike gets wet. Cleaning means nothing more than wiping with a rag. I should have noted when I installed the chain, but it seems like a super long time ago, and I don't see any elongation at all yet. If I knew the installation date, I would know how many miles. I promise to record the next chain change. A friend of mine took my bike for a five mile ride and said my bike is a delight to ride, and I attribute that to my chain maintenance more than other factors.

Mercier 300
I picked up this Mercier 300 a while back and it is time to rehab it. When I bought it, it had a mix of components. Plans include knee friendly gearing (47/32), and a European parts build (it came to me with a lot of Japanese parts). Nothing wrong with the parts (in fact I really like the wheels, shimano high flange hubs laced to sun cr 18 rims) but I figure this bike should have a mainly French parts build with a bit of Campagnolo thrown in. I bought the missing decals from velocals. So I'll need to clean the frame, deal with the rust issues, and then build it.

Well, I've got 163 cms of mrs non-fixie, so as near as no difference. Reach is indeed often an issue. I just mounted a saddle and 5cm stem on the De Reus and can get the reach within a quarter of an inch of the Snel's.
I had to look up the All-City Macho Man, as they're not sold here. That's a good-looking frame!

Ohboyohboyohboy! I'm taking my frame to a powder coater tomorrow, so I've wrenched every part off. Can't afford wet paint, but I'm intrigued by the probable extra durability of PC.
