When I was 30, Mrs. JG and I got married, and she dragged me off to the eye doctor, who diagnosed astigmatism. Mrs. GJ asked how it affected what I saw. He said, "Everything he sees appears taller and thinner than it really is."
She asked, "Does he HAVE to get glasses?"

I may have told this story.

Temperatures were mid 70s in the mountains today so I went climbing.
A really beautiful day to be on the bike, and as a bonus found some grammatical ambiguity that made me chuckle

Hotdogs can sing? I had no idea.

Some would say you have to be a hot dog to sing well.

My wife had a rear flat on our group ride today and she always brags that I can change a tire in 6 minutes. So, out came the timers on watches and phones and I pulled the rear wheel, ripped the tire off by hand, no tools, found a steel wire in the tire, put the tube in, mounted the tire (GP5000x25c) by hand, gassed it, reinstalled the wheel and shifted gears to a rideable lower gear. General consensus was that I just beat 6 minutes.
Still got it.
Still got it.

Well, shifter problem fixed. I had to take it apart to figure out the problem. Seems there is a ratchet with a cable size hole thru which the cable needs to run. The cable was not run thru it, but you couldn't see it thru the hole in the shifter housing. When it was opened up, it became pretty obvious.
Don't like how much rear housing there is, and will tidy that up later. Probably invert the stem when my back stops hurting.
The Sora bike is now a R7000 105 bike, replete with power meter.

Made it home in time for the wife to tell me nay on the bike ride, but not to late for me to take my daughter on one. I elected to take her to the 3 mile stretch of bike path, it recently rained so I knew there would not be many people on it.
She did good today, no complaints and even went up both hills without asking for help. One is longer and steeper than the other. When I first started riding (before I was cycling and like 80 pounds heavier) I struggled to get up this hill. To datlas this would be a drive way but to each their own.
She’s getting more comfortable with handling the bike as well. On all descents she didn’t hit her brakes and she tucked in. In the past she would usually hit her brake and almost stop as soon as she started picking up speed.
At one point she started getting upset when I was riding next to her, basically she didn’t like my half wheeling nonsense and told me to get back on her wheel. I’m pretty good at following direction.

Outpatient surgery yesterday; my first surgery since my tear ducts were opened as an infant. Everybody was asked about diabetes and hypertension, seemingly the most common ailments in Mexico. Is that true elsewhere as well? I observed no obesity, either in patients or staff. Unusual. Prolly no riding for awhile. No idea how long, but in ten days I go in to get stitches removed.

A long holiday weekend here. Tomorrow is independence day and today and yesterday afternoon are both experiencing street closures. And tomorrow of course. The "grito" is on the eve of, instead of the night of. So tonight. I had planned to go in and re-stock on lumber either today or tomorrow. Not. R&R.

I'm completely stuck on Wordle, and will mull throughout the day, before guess six.

TRP mechanical discs (calipers) are one of the few (if only ?) mechanical disc brake systems that feature two piston movement
they perform better than most of the other mechanical systems (if not all) and are easy to set up and adjust ; 3mm hex adjusts pads in and out
still not as good as a quality hydraulic system - but still fairly good
pic of a TRP Spyre SLC caliper above

The pic of Bam's little girl on the bike brings back a memory. When our son was about that age, we took him and our daughter bike riding on a similar trail. Our son was in front of me just like in that picture, and the girls were behind me. Out of nowhere, a training wheel feel of the son's bike without his knowledge, but he just kept riding along as if nothing happened.
Until my wife announced that he was doing so well without his training wheel, at which time he realized what happened, veered left into the grass, and then crashed.

I did this very quickly and without much thought. It seems to be more satisfying when I have to think about it and even struggle a bit.
Sometimes when I get it in three I'm a little disappointed that it's over already.
