Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We suffered a biblical rain today so it was Tour of Spain, tire maintenance, grocery shopping and then Netflix/Prime/Apple TV/HBO Max the rest of the day

Nope went to the aquarium.

There was a guy at the table next to us at dinner with shaved legs, a handlebar Mustache, and a road bike tat on his calf. No doubt a serious cyclist.

Went to the tire store and because it's on the edge of the tread right at the sidewall, they can't fix it. As luck would have it, the tires are about due to replace in any case. BUT they didn't have those onsite, so they have to be shipped from Sacramento. I guess I'll just keep pumping them up till Tuesday or so.

32K miles. Not too bad for performance tires. The Firestones that came with the car barely made it to 20K.
We've had some Pirellis on the Macan that were only good for 10k. The last set of Michelons lasted about 20k. Three sets of tires in 40k miles.

I last bought car tires 8 years ago. I'm about due, at least one of them is getting noisy. The tires on her car are even older, judging by the date code.

Did another 60 mile club ride today. Some new riders came and we started with about 22 but a few turned back on the first climb. Weird. A guy came on his first ever group ride. He had a beautiful new Domane. Said he did a lot of indoor riding and wanted to do real road rides. He did fine, considering, and he was pretty beat by the end. He was erratic but stayed clear of everyone. He can come back any time.

And there was a young lady. She rode with us once before on a short Sunday ride. She had never done a longer group ride either and was worried about getting dropped. It was a casual pace and she did fine, too. She was quick-witted and funny and sharp and just fun to be around. I hope she comes back, too.

I put some (obviously different) Pirellis on the GX because they didn't have the CrossClimate2 ready in its size.

Wish I had waited.

I've been disappointed in Pirelli - and Michelin better but still not great

Yokohama at one point ok - maybe as good as Michelin but less expensive (at the time had 20" tires)

currently on Continental - maybe not the grip and performance (cornering/turn-in/etc) of some of the other available tires (?) - but road noise is low and the wear appears to be good

I'm sure some here will have jokes, but AG suggested we start doing pilates (at the place where I did PT, actually) and demand if I wasn't moving better after that than I have since some time before the crash.
