I was out with my old Brit bike group today, a loop in Metro West Boston in cold and rainy weather. Bikes included a 1973 Raleigh Competition:

I managed to get out on the Raleigh for 40.5 miles today. A bit of light rain at the start, but that's what they invented fenders for and why I installed them on this bike.
Saw this character on the outward leg. Not a great pic but he/she was facing away anyway.

I joined a forum members @davester (Dave) and @numbernine (Brett) for a beautiful ride up Morgan Territory Road, a backroad climb across the back saddle of Mt. Diablo. I've been wanting to explore this road for a while and was glad to have some good companions to guide me. The road has been closed due to flooding for the past several months and have been told that it would be possible to pass by carrying bikes over the damaged section. Wasn't even necessary. Evidence of road closure, but no need to get off the bike.
Dave was on his Cooper and Brett was on his Paramount. I felt downright modern on my Merlin Ti.
OVer the top, the landscapes changed to open hills, a lovely bright green from all the rain.
I had to take an early exit due to family obligations. I bid Dave and Brett farewell near Dublin, and left them to finish the final stretch up Palomares Cyn without me. Hope you guys enjoyed the rest of the ride!

Yesterday, was ride 8 in my Ready2Roll Training Series in SE Texas. 60 miles through the rolling climbs of Columbus and the outskirts of Texas Hill Country. My legs were howling by the end!

@Wildwood and I did around 20 miles on the Cedar River Trail in Maple Valley. I'd never ridden there before - gorgeous, as per usual when it comes to western WA environs.
I didn't pull out the camera until we hit a really quiet back road to add some variety to our return route. Stuart rode his Eddy Merckx and I the '73 Super. I test-ran my recently-acquired Regina Oro with a 24t bailout (replaced the one I broke last summer). Afterwards we went to lunch where I had a yummy open-faced roast beef with mashed potatoes; for some reason, I'd been craving one since the night before!

Good to see you up on two wheels again, @Drillium Dude. Although I'm used to seeing it by now, the '73 Super looks super nice, as usual. And keep Santa Claus out riding with you, too. By his own admission it sounds like he'd like to burn off some more of those Xmas cookies

I decided to go out for a NYC metric century on Tuesday morning hoping that the forecast for rain was overblown. Well it wasn't. The temperature hovered around 39 degrees and it rained steadily for 5 of the 6 hours on the road. The rain did keep most other cyclists and I presume many vehicles off of the road so during stretches it was quite peaceful. My turnaround point was Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn. I did stop off for a beer at the Gun Hill Brewery to warm up on the way home. 79 miles of rain, wind, fog and grit made for a nice day. No worthwhile photos have been taken since the only riding has been commuting and errands.

Put the April metric into the books today. A great ride with relatively easy wind and temps in the 50's. I took a little stop at a foot bridge in Marine MN that I've always wanted to stop and check out. One photo of the Rossin, and one looking downstream off the bridge.

Today's short but hilly 15 miles around my home neighborhood of West Seattle was the maiden voyage for the 650B conversion of my '87 Marinoni. Photo taken from the bluff in Loncoln Park, north of the Vashon Island ferry overlooking Puget Sound. Loving the conversion, especially with the cracked concrete pavement all around here, and it was fun on the hard-packed trails though the park.
