Wow, that's serious life out of that tire, no wonder it's looking that wonky.
Quite impressive actually.

Marathons in general are pretty tough tires, perfect for commuting and such.
There are lots of flavours, yours are probably the regular version, as I now see that the stuff showing is the green stuff. Its teh Plus versions that have the blue anti flat protection layer.
I checked again - it is the green type - I ordered a backup from Amazon. I also increased my tire pressure to 80 psi. Thanks all!

This link might be helpful. It's SRAM's recommended tire pressure calculator.

https://axs.sram.com/guides/tire/pressure

Might want to check with SRAM to see if it's valid for eBikes first, though.

Disregard above, please. Did some further checking and SRAM's calculator doesn't seem to include any 20" tires.

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

At your weight, riding 20" wheels on NYC's potholed streets, go to the max tire pressure. This will afford maximum protection against denting a rim

In your specific situation all other considerations are secondary.

I would think that contacting companies likes dahon or Brompton would be the best for pressure recommendations for smaller tires, for a given tire width and rider weight.

Or a Brompton dahon forum, I'm sure there are these in the UK where so many people use folders on a daily basis, and you'd be able to get some experienced advice.

That tire has plenty of life left. Keep riding the tire until the rubber is completely gone and the fabric carcass becomes exposed. You will start to get more frequent punctures near the end. Replace when this becomes too annoying.

Yes that tire is worn out and should be replaced. The blue you see is the layer below the tread. Any time you see the layer appear below the outer tread you can be sure your tire is worn out.

Looks like you got your monies worth from it, I would replace the tire as soon as you can afford to.....Braking and cornering may soon become an issue.

I switched to a 30 spoke rim a while back - I had used 59psi but now I do 90psi. Rolls nicer! Have new tire now! Thanks all for advice
