Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Black bears in the Tahoe area are very smart. If you have food somewhere, they will get to it.

We had both doors ripped off of our Prius by a bear, because it smelled something yummy in the car. I woke up in bed in Markleeville to a momma bear tearing off the screen window next to my bed. I yelled, "No, bad bear, go away!". She left, then later came back to break into the motel's refrigerator.

Then there was the bear that went into the CHP station at Donner Pass:

My memory is it takes like 10 minutes to get through security anyway. From walking in the door.

In other news, SWA remains terrible. They had the best direct option, but man are they terrible.

Also, AUS has a Gate Infinity.

Seems irrational unless you meant crashing while driving to the airport.

Small airports are pretty unpredictable when it comes to security and how long it takes. Depends on how many TSA agents show up to work, and how many flights are leaving at that time.
Watertown, NY was bad. I can’t remember ALB. I know I flew in there a bunch and overnighted but I can’t even remember the airport. I remember the hotel.

BAH- I hope you are not leaving AUS early in the morning. The security line is a **** show in the morning.

Wife allowed me to ride my bike a little this afternoon. My mood had soured to the point where I didn’t even want my own thoughts in my head, let alone verbalize them.

Took the emonda out first. The popping noise when I make left turns seems to have come back, if it ever left. I am really not sure. It’s the front wheel, the wheel that was crashed in the race. Spokes were replaced the wheel was trued not sure what the noise could be. Made sure everything was tight.
Did some hill repeats and some sprints around the neighborhood. School rush hour so a lot of dodging soccer moms and kids walking in the middle of the road.

After 7 miles I swapped to the 5200z. I recently pulled the superteams off the other day and put a new cassette on the old wheels. It’s a sram cassette with shimano chain, shimano groupset. Manager assured me it wouldn’t be a problem. Skipping was way bad. Every gear was skipping initally with pressure. (shifted fine in the stand). After about a mile it seemed like the skipping stopped but it randomly would skip under pressure. I guess i’ll just take it to the shop and let them figure it out. I noticed recently when I pedal it sounds like my rear brake is rubbing but the noise is coming from the pulleys. The brake is not rubbing.

The popping noise might be something with the cables bumping into each other. Does it only happen when you're riding, or also when you're stopped.

Shifting issue might just need an adjustment of cable tension and limit screw settings, and possibly a check of the derailleur hanger alignment.

Only when moving, and turning left. As far as the shifting, I’ll let the shop figure it out.

Something interesting I noticed, how much slower the 5200 was today while in the saddle compared to the emonda. Could the aero wheels on the emonda really make that much of a difference? The 5200 is significantly lighter. It did accelerate well out of the saddle. Saddle height and position is still an issue. Should never had messed with it.

Have the bugs been beaten out of the 737 Max 9? Because I'm trying to decide whether to fly at a less convenient time to avoid being on one.

Yes. At this point it’s prolly the safest plane in the air. I fly them multiple times every trip. They fly really well, not concerned at all.

Dunno how I missed this post. Yep, T700. Not sure of year yet. 1998 catalog says Sun rims but mine's got Ritchey rims. All the other components seem to match the '98 catalog. Catalog says it came in Kiwi Green and Iris blue. Gonna have a peak at the earlier years now.

Good choice, Everest Challenge probably wouldn't have been fun for a crit specialist. It was a series of long tempo climbs, separated by short ripping descents.

Looks like it's a '94. Rear derailleur date code is November 1993. The colour is Cobalt Blue Metallic with Blue Pearl Hyper Highlight.

Mine has Coda cranks even thought the catalog specs STX-RC.
