We wish he could walk as well as he looks! When he was younger, he couldn't use his hind legs and we feared that he never would, but he's a plucky young fellow; he's been trying hard to get better and now that he - by and large - has, we're hoping for a full recovery. Now he can stand up on all four and walk (albeit very shakily,) but he still can't run straight or as fast as his siblings. He can climb up onto a couch, but he still can't jump up. He tries his best to jump down straight, but he almost always ends up crashing on the hard floor with the kind of thunk that petrifies us. We're hoping for the best.

awww *hugs* that IS young. I've never seen a tribute photo like that. such a beautiful coat! we had 2 old cats that passed within weeks of each other (both 20 years old). they didn't quite pass away at home, but they stopped moving, except for breathing. we had to take them to be put down. tough for my Wife (in my absence) when she took mine (that I bought to our relationship) & tough for me when I took hers (that she brought to our relationship) because she couldn't bear to. here's wishing you strength right now & nothing but the best memories

Having turned two weeks old today, Tootie's babies are now old enough to stay with us in the living room.

Thank you and everybody else for your condolences.
Ace's remains will be returned in an engraved wooden box, to go on the shelf with the three dogs who shared their lives with us too.
The grief load is getting a little lighter as the thoughts shift to happier memories.

Black cats

Two black cats in the last two posts. World Tour riders would be a bit concerned (high level pros are said to be a super superstitious bunch)

"Picaboo!"

Sadly, this is Coffee's last picture at our home before she and her two siblings, Lucy 1 and Copper, left us for their forever home earlier today. The matron of the household, a longtime friend of my wife's, wanted Lucy 1; her daughter adopted Copper, and her son took Coffee. This is the last picture I took of all three of them together before they left:

We temporarily changed her name to Lucy 1 because now there's a Lucy 2:

... Or just Lucy, now that the other Lucy's gone. We picked up this five-month-old beauty last weekend from a young lady who - you guessed it - had too many cats!

That seems like a good reason to foster. I'd much rather lose cats to a forever home than to illness.
