I've been wearing glasses for decades. Since the end of high school. myopia with astigmatism. Left eye is currently -1.75, right eye is currently -5.25. glasses are a major PITA but my eyes are marginal for contacts; in dry weather I'll blink and one will fall out.

Last season, LSS and I were sailing upwind in sporty conditions, requiring quite a bit of attention and muscle, when a snake suddenly appeared in the cockpit. It was a small, fairly innocent looking thing, but the driver's shriek still rings in my ears. To her credit, she held it together. The creature disappeared into the nether regions of the boat and was never seen again. And believe me, I looked!
When we moved into our previous house there was a large snake residing in the garage and the basement, depending on time of day and temperature. We had a Russian couple in to paint the place and one day he tried to pick it up, thinking it was a rubber model and planning to play a joke on his wife...

During one of our club's big annual regattas, a guy that I raced against arrived at his boat Saturday to find a water moccasin under the pedestal cover in the cockpit. He got that sorted. Then, during the first race of the day, one of his crew fell overboard. He got that sorted. Then, later that same morning, he found that a thru-hull failed and he was taking on water. He quit.

There's 5-10 songs in the entire decade worth listening to.

Yes of course the music of your youth was the most special and awesome and you're blessed to have been around it and everyone who disagrees just has no taste.
Same way I feel about that '70s noise.

Looking toward the street from near the front door on my last rental. There is a small creek just below that guardrail. At night the frogs and insects would sing loudly. We really liked the sound there, never any fireworks or loud parties. We did have rattlesnakes in the yard. Landlord lived next door and one day he was shooting at a rattler under his van and it echoed through that canyon.

Sad Doug cyclist news: Doug Canning, pediatric urologist from Philly and avid cyclist, died from cycling related injuries. I don’t know the details but maybe indyfabz does?

There was so much great music in the 70s it would be impossible to try and list it. It's ridiculous to try and say all music from a certain decade is bad. There is always good stuff from all genres in all decades, just as there is always crap. I know, it's as individual as any other artform, but unless you've heard every piece of music from every artist, how can you make such a judgement?
I know, I'm going to regret this post.
Here is a small taste of 70s music.

Part of growing up is the realization that a lot of the music of your youth was dreck.

That’s just sad. You should not let people know you are a musician.
