I live in Pennsylvania. In 2017 I took a long weekend car camping trip in state. The first night we ate at a mom & pop restaurant that punched in my card number. When we ate out the next day my card was declined. Fortunately, I had another one. The bank told me that the previous transaction seemed “suspicious.”

It took YEARS for my bank to finally realize that my job requires me to travel all the time. Up until about 2 years ago my card was constantly getting locked. I pleaded with them to put a note in my file that my job requires me to continuously travel so that it’s normal for a purchase to be made in Charlotte and then 3 hours later in Detroit. I’m not sure what they did but I don’t have that issue anymore.

I blame Al Gorithms. One time I paid for an expensive Rx then went to the grocery store right next door to the pharmacy. Card declined. I called the bank. Again got the suspicions explanation despite the fact that I purchased that same Rx a couple of months before from the same pharmacy for the exact same price.

I went to the club today and went on a 65ish mile loop with friends and others. At the coffee stop we encountered 2 old friends who no longer come to club rides. One of these guys is 76 and was one of the best climbers in our club years ago. We asked him to join us on our ride which would add a few miles to what he was doing. He said his battery on his Garmin was low so he couldn't do it. After much ridicule from the group he finally agreed to come with us.
Later, when we had some hills he went off the front and we never saw him after that. While we were riding we passed a group of about 20 riders at the side of the road and I recognized a guy I rode with in the 90s. They started rolling and I had a chance to catch up with him for a few minutes. That was an unexpected treat and I can't remember the last time I saw him but it may be more than 20 years. He moved out of the area back then.
I read that the winner of Unbound Gravel today averaged over 21 mph for the 200 miles of dirt and mud and it came down to a 4 man sprint.

I passed by the House of Hotrods on my morning ride, and they were having a car show. Some pretty cool stuff on display. Even some baggers layin frame.
Lots of cargo shorts and Bud t-shirts. I felt a bit out of place being the only one in spandex and walking toes up. My gut felt right at home though.

What I said about the '70s and music also applies to cars. And most other things.

The 50 mile option might be more to my liking.

Mine had Ford SW's in '62, 64, and 66. Then he departed from that and got an Oldsmobile, and then the Citroen.
