Never driven one, the closest I came was +/- 1980 when several friends all drove Mitsubishi-built Dodge Colts with "Twin-Stick" 4x2 setups. Trying to stay in the rev range on twisty mountain roads, jamming a knee against the steering wheel to hold it so one could move both shift levers at once.

Anyway, I'm sure there were a lot of "what the heck?" comments when the first front derailleurs came out. One more lever to mess with...

MD trucks were better thought out. Simple switch on shifter

had a 54 ford i paid 25 bucks for, it had overdrive....not the same but i went down the road nicely
