Ok, so we are tentatively planning to go to Spain in April, and toward the end of the visit will be in Mallorca for the 312. We have usually gone to the southern state of Andalucia, and we have a comfort level there, but for proximity to/from Mallorca it makes more sense to stay in the Valencia/Alicante region. Anyone know good cycling locales there?? I may have to cross-post in the Western Europe forum

Very nice. We were in Girona about 4 years ago and I can confirm that it is a cycling haven. The issue for our spring trip is we want to go to a new area in Spain that we have not explored. Other than a few days in Mallorca for the 312, we will probably spend 5 days in Alicante and 5 days in Valencia. Possibly.

A Williamsburg cyclist is in Spain right now. She is finishing up a Pro tour experience. The pictures are amazing, and she is having a blast. I’ll have to ask her the name of the tour group/ cycling camp.

As we're walking around the lake, I hear an older male cyclist call out a pass. I didn't hear the specifics, but the elderly woman being passed took offense. They started jawing at each other, but the guy pulled away. Grandma was *not* done, though - she thumbed a button on her bars, I heard her e-bike spin up, she closed the gap on the guy and proceeded to yap at him over his shoulder.

Made it home in time for the wife to tell me nay on the bike ride, but not to late for me to take my daughter on one. I elected to take her to the 3 mile stretch of bike path, it recently rained so I knew there would not be many people on it.
She did good today, no complaints and even went up both hills without asking for help. One is longer and steeper than the other. When I first started riding (before I was cycling and like 80 pounds heavier) I struggled to get up this hill. To datlas this would be a drive way but to each their own.
She’s getting more comfortable with handling the bike as well. On all descents she didn’t hit her brakes and she tucked in. In the past she would usually hit her brake and almost stop as soon as she started picking up speed.
At one point she started getting upset when I was riding next to her, basically she didn’t like my half wheeling nonsense and told me to get back on her wheel. I’m pretty good at following direction.

I get 6-8K per week, sometimes more. I have a friend who is about 73 and has terrible breathing problems and he has been doing at least 600,000 feet per year for at least 20 years. It's getting pretty difficult for him, I don't know how much longer he will be able to do it. He's obsessed with it.

Put the 105 R7000 DR on the bike along with the SL-RS700 shifters. Both are 11-speed. Front works great.
Rear doesn’t shift. Put chain on small/small, and tightened the cable. Rear doesn’t shift. Adjusted tension with barrel adjusters. No bueno.
Limit screws are properly set. I can move the DR to manually shift the rear.
What am I missing?

Is the shifter actually clicking and the RD is not moving? Is it possible the cable came out of the shifter?

Someone posted on FB today bragging about doing 7 centuries in 7 days. I'm not knocking the accomplishment but their data shows around 300-400 feet per century except 1 which had 1700. A total of 3600 feet in 7 centuries. I'm pretty sure I've never done a century with less than about 4000, except when touring in flat states.

I remember you saying you live in the flatlands.
Someone posted on FB today bragging about doing 7 centuries in 7 days. I'm not knocking the accomplishment but their data shows around 300-400 feet per century except 1 which had 1700. A total of 3600 feet in 7 centuries. I'm pretty sure I've never done a century with less than about 4000, except when touring in flat states.

We’re all seven completed in the same foot print? or did they progressively take longer and longer. Progressively increasing in time isn’t impressive. It’s impressive that someone didn’t have work for 7 days and chose to ride all day 7 days. That’s impressive.
Yes, there is a little hint of jealousy there .

Are you suggesting pulling on the tail as I shift and while it’s tight in the Dr? Have not done that, but can. Or did you mean do something else?

I always thought when I retired I would be riding a lot more than I actually am. In my 30s when I took time off I rode like 400 miles per week. I took 10 months off one time and 3 months another time when I did a long tour.

I was thinking what if the shifter is in the low gear position already? Pull on the cable with one hand (doesn't matter if it's hooked to the derailleur) and shift the small paddle while yanking on the cable.
