The vacuum bottle typically holds cold beverages for consumption during the ride or at the destination that may not be suitable for standard water bottles.

It's safer from bears up there.
So I've started to get some riding in and I took advantage of the three day weekend to get Esmarelda out on the road for a few miles. From not having ridden for awhile i can't immediately say "Oh it feels just like my crimped tube Alle framed Cornelo" or "it isn't as a good a climber as my SP Batavus" but it is a good riding bike. I'm no climber and there isn't much of what you guys would call climbing around her but she performed well, for this out of shape rider, on one of the steeper rises around my loop. Fortunately I remembered to double check the important bolts so nothing other than a bottle cage came loose.
I'm looking forward to more rides on this great bike. The Chief Engineer of Trash Panda Works was on hand to present me with the Lantern La Rouge at the finish line of stage one, on Saturday the 27th
The Volpe got a chance to head out with me on Sunday. Stopped for a photo on Young Rd which I believe was cut for the building of I469
Come Monday I was a bit sore and should have taken the softer riding Volpe out again but couldn't resist another ride on the Medici. Needless to say this ride was equally as great as the first ride. I have to look at the seat height again though, I think it needs to come up a 1/2" or so

A friend balked at a ride today in favor of eradicating bamboo from his yard. A few stops on my way out to heckle him...
This nail tried to dot the "i". Last time I had this happen it went through the rim. As I changed my tube a car rumbled by with a flat. I tried to get the lady to stop but she rolled by with the tire slapping the fender. That will cost a few more pennies.

Got out today on my fabulous '90 Proto around my usual loop. I did stop and take afew pics of this kite eating tree
I had a bit of a mishap yeaterday. I tried to squeeze past a few stopped cars at a light that were a little too close to the curb. I suddenly realized there was a dead bird I'd have to roll over if I continued so I tried to stop. Unfortunately the ground where my foot needed to go was about 3-4 inches lower than the road and guess what? YEP! I did a spectactular face plant. Despite my knee looking kind of gruesome here, the swell was mostly gone this morning and there is no ugly black and blue marks. I partially blame the bifocals
Sadly none of the occupants of the cars waiting at the light asked if I was OK! Good thing I had my apple watch but since my glasses were off I almost couldn't stop the alert from going out. After I sat up and got moving a few people did ask if I was OK.

I have yet to meet the horse that can shovel pucky, change the straw or lock the gate before bedtime. No wonder the fool always has this Vacancy sign out. Sheesh - silly people.
Look at that blue sky. Light breeze + cool temp, too.
Best part of the ride. I’m grunting & huffing my way up the steep final climb home. 5-6mph, lowest gear. See the ‘crazy dog lady who talks to herself’ walking down the hill on my side. Without her dogs. As I wish her a good day, she lights up and says, “yellow man, yellow man - he must be a happy man.” And carries on. I wasn’t wearing anything yellow, only the bike. Kept grunting uphill in bedazzled wonderment. Sorry - no pic.

Got a quick local ride in today on local trails when there was break in the weather for a couple hours for the first in a bout a week. Took the Marin Bobcat trail which looks good on cloudy days.

Yesterday was an unplanned metric century (105km) ride. I had worked out a nice 80km loop on google earth only to find 300m into one turn that the one road (I've gone only south bound) runs out of pavement fast if you turn northward. I'm happy that I have a close friend about half way along the ride, and I can get away with two bottles on the bike and none in the jersey.

A typhoon hit Japan last Friday and Saturday.
Yokohama wasn't hit hard by the typhoon.
But some part of Japan was.
I'd like to express my condolence for those who were affected by the typhoon.
Mt. Fuji view point.
They say the sky is clean and clear without clouds after a typhoon.

Well it wasn't today, but on Memorial Day, I rode my 1988 Access Comp (owned since new) to our local Memorial Mile running race and won my division (50-59). There were only five of us old coots, it was mostly a h.s. track field.

Yesterday was a nice cool sunny day, so a less familiar route. Turned out to be a dappledly ride. Lovely to slow down, watch for ruts and little potholes that cannot be seen with the breezy dapples a movin. A river’s rushing sounds are so soothing…..

Took my '87 High Sierra to Black Creek Park yesterday to ride the new 2 mile rail trail extension. The extension brings the total mileage to over 8 miles, running from Black Creek Park to Newfound Creek. The trail now ends at Newfound Creek where once stood an impressive wooden rail trestle. Unfortunately the trestle burned down many years ago. There are plans to build a new trestle and continue the rail trail, but no proposed completion date has been mentioned.
