I suppose I should... I was pretty apprehensive about buying one because it was a relatively unknown entity, so it makes good sense. Let me get a few more weeks of commuting on it and I will do so.

Here's my non-winter workhorse: Giant Rapid 2 flat bar converted to drop, Shimano 105 5700 10 speed, 12-25, 50/34 compact. Brakes are Tektro long reach; I could not use the 105 short reach calipers. I've got MK2 fenders on it.

Cervelo as a commuter. probably 2-2.5 mph faster with this versus my other commuter.

This is my winter work horse. It's wearing 32mm Hutchison urban tourers right now, and big clunky panniers. It's got 3x9 Tiagra drivetrain. Just replaced the bar tape last night. Chartreuse green a bit over the top?

I'd call it lime green. I like the look, I used it as an accent color for my Dark Dirty Blue crosscheck for a few years, but I had trouble finding (cheap) bartape and housing that were remotely the same shade.

About a year ago I switched it over to red, it looks ok too, but is not as arresting.

I think that bright green goes well on that bike.

The bike reminds me a lot of my 1995ish Volpe with its 3x7 drivetrain. It has very confident handling but it weighs a ton. I have 37mm Vittoria Voyager Hyper tires on it, which only measure 35mm. I'm thinking of moving the tires to my Raleigh International which can afford a little extra weight, and put some lighter tires on the Volpe.

Yeah, yours looks about the same shade of loud as mine:-D What I really wanted was a more subtle green, close to the hue on the bike, but it's hard to find.

I remember that bike of yours, Tom. They'd look like long-lost brothers side by side.

I had a short (70mm) quill stem on it with a more vintage handlebar, but found that I really dislike the shape of it and it was giving me some pain in the wrist. So I went more modern with a threadless, still with a 70mm stem and more ergo handblebar. Makes a world of difference in comfort.

Finally got my commuter bike sorted! 85 CDale St400 with Ultegra 6500 and Open Pros. Rides like a rocket even with the panniers loaded.

I love old Bianchi's! I built a 1993 Nayala into a commuter a few years ago, but it ended up being kind of slow and too heavy duty for what I needed. Lesson learned: I should have started with a 700c base like you and @noglider and not a 26" mountain (at least for my needs)...

That crankset looks like a 6600 crankset, though, I which think is a better looking crank than either the 6700 or the new 6800. I've got one sitting on my shelf waiting, no, longing, for the right frame to come along.

This bike and I have a love hate relationship. I love it for all the things that it can do for me--take on studded tires, have a rack and pannier, able to mount CX tires on it to go on trails and dirt roads. But whenever I am using for hauling stuff it is heavy, and so I always associate it as a heavy, slow rider, which I hate, even though when unladen it actually feels okay.

I mean the actual trains ... devoid of any style, as if they were designed for colour blind people (which they may be given that it's Britain), worn to **** and super expensive.

I like British bikes.

I currently ride a Hi-Ten FGSS, so it must be at least 10 kg.

Thanks! Crankset is actually an R565, but I don't mind the extra few ounces. Plus the Shimano rings shift like butter. I've always had FSA rings and even the cheap Shimano stuff shifts better IMO.

I agree about the 6600 crankset though. I've got a full almost NOS gruppo of 6603 (ice grey) that I'm waiting to put on my vintage Trek. Waiting for a deal on an A23 wheel set for that bike as well As Jack Johnson says, always sitting, waiting, wishing.

One more. This is the bike I purchased for $550 back in 1980-something from a store on Bloor St. From Joe Gardin himself, left to die in a couple of garages for 28 years, and recently resurrected. Original handlebar, and seat post. Everything else has been replaced.

Still rides like a rocket! It begs to be ridden hard.
