Time to hang up the Bianchi for awhile.
A friend just recently moved to town and today he rather unexpectedly loaned me his Dura Ace equipped 2005 Mondonico. I shat myself when I took it for a spin around the block. I've been on good bikes before but nothing like this. The frame is smaller than what I usually ride (seatpost is almost fully extended) but it feels like a lightweight rocket compared to my Volpe. Now I know what I need to save my pennies for!

I once took a spin on a Mondonico at the local Torelli/Mondonico dealer. Very sweet stuff for sure.

I hope that's a mountain bike seat post in there! I know the pedals are off, but have you been riding with the seat jacket up like that? If so, seriously, don't ride that bike again until you check for where the minimum insertion line on the seat post hits. If it's above the top of the seat tube, you're risking damaging the frame and/or yourself (or worse).

Volpe: 30 pound bike that I pulled from a garage after 15 years of storage and made road-worthy with low end and leftover parts that I had.
Mondonico: 20 pounds of hand-crafted classic sculpture complimented with full Dura-Ace.
I love my Bianchi, but it isn't exactly a performance machine in comparison.

I think coming off a Mondonice my first extended period of time on carbon thread would be one word : "meh".

Must be nice to live somewhere that you could throw stones and hit hand built bikes everywhere. I'm surrounded by carbon Trek, Specialized, Orbea, and Cervelo, but I've never seen one of these come up on CL. Guess I'm not as lucky as you.

Wish that Landshark was 2 sizes bigger. I miss my old Wolber GTX wheelset. And those look virginal!
