Nonriders view commuting as a chore because it is. Riders see commuting as a joyride because it is. I don't think using a new term is going to convince nonriders.

Another term for commuting could be
From A to B being happy
What about stealthmuting.
As nobody sees or hear us (drivers, pedestrians)
Another one could be:
The no-my-driver-license-is-still-valid club

I sometimes call it "transportation" cycling or "practical" cycling, but I usually stick with "commuting by bike".

Yes. I started using this a few years ago when a guard at a national cemetery ordered me to leave, saying "no recreational cycling is allowed."
I said, "It's OK, I'm not cycling for recreation. I'm cycling for transportation."
As we held our little tete-a-tete, a series of big Harleys roared by spewing fumes, drawing not a glance from the security guy. Go figure.

Has anybody mentioned "A to B" yet? That's one of the marketing buzzwords that's been used.
Mikael Colville talks about it in terms of vacuum cleaners. Don't know if that helps or not.

How about "Not Driving"?
How about "Infinite MPG transportation"?
How about "Cycling for Utility, Transportation and Enjoyment"? That's cute, right?
How about "Fairly Using Cycles where Kars Yusually Only are Utilized"?

Some interesting ideas in here, liking that last one.
I myself thought of "Shuttling" today.
But I also appreciate those who have pointed out that it is not the name alone that puts many off. However, I was merely trying to think of another term which didn't imply the Fred-ness that commuting often does. I somehow think that there is no term suitable, but don't let me dissuade you from coming up with others

I sometimes call it spinning, come to think. Going to spin to the store, going to spin to work, etc
