Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

new saddle "astute skycarb sr" tryout time....didn't really need it but then biketiresdirect had it half-price special last week, and obviously i have impulse control issues...if anyone cares, i'll report if it meets the marketing hype expectations...but I can say it's at least 15 grams over advertised weight...

Assos blitzFeder
Nice emergency weather jacket, for those chilly descents.
Less than 100g and packs fist size

nevermind this dude in the pics... I look much nicer than him in this jacket =P

Cannondale high-vis jersey, Canari shorts (FINALLY a 2nd pair of bike shorts), Finish Line citrus degreaser, and a Nashbar spoke wrench, all on Nashbar's 72% off sale, adding up to $51 so I got it all shipped free as well.

I tried that helmet and really liked the fit, but it was a little too expensive and a little too ugly to get me to pull the trigger.

Nashbar was selling SRAM Red rear derailleur (10 sp) for $170. I couldn't resist. My steel Guru now has Red fr. & rear derailleurs and a Red crank set. Weighs a bit under 17 lbs. 12 oz. with Speedplay Zeros.

I wiped it off with Pedro's citrus degreaser on a clean rag but the black was visibly gone before this, only lubed once with "White Lightening clean ride wax lube".

Maybe that's the difference. I have an all black on one bike and a black and red on the other, and the colors are holding up fine. I use Rock n' Roll yellow which is pretty much a lube/cleaner in one.

Don't ever try these on unless you want your wallet lighten by $430. Yup, that extra $30 is for the SL footbed since the one included with the shoes only fits people with flat feet.

2014 Athena Alloy Groupo

Modern Mavic Ksyriums

To go replace all the components on this C&V for a full restomod!

Hopefully the C&V crowd approves and does not crucify me.

All the vintage 80's Campy Athena and Vento wheel set will be released into the world for re-use on someone else's project.
