My trusty Trek 800 Antelope this weekend, fitted with $200 500W electric motor and an even cheaper fire hazard battery. I thought Spring was here, but it's still too chilly.

Followed by my latest project, a $150 Sundeal Minivello, fitted with a $200 250W front motor and $310 bottle battery. Seat upgrade too.

Both ridden at 12-14 mph. I find the Trek just rolls and rolls. When riding with my wife on her electric bike, I can often turn off my power and pedal along. I don't see that rolling ability on the mini. I have some new Kendas that night help.

I'm 53. That's about as low as it'll go, but I'm pretty dialed in, fit wise, so super comfortable even doing centuries.

Not bad, especially for a deepish wheelset (60/67). But it is super light, at <1100g. I ride up and down the Ironman route in Kona all the time, and even rode up Haleakala with it. Where it can get a bit sketchy is long/fast descents.

Season five for this Salsa Vaya. I seem to always have 8-12 bikes around to ride, but this one is referred to as my "real bike"

That's nice, @TimothyH. What kind of riding do you plan to do on it? I used to ride fixed in the winter. I think I'll try it again next winter.

It was conceived and built as a light and fast fixed gear for the open road here in North Georgia - anything you would take a road bike on. I'll probably shy away from actual mountains in the far northern part of the state but it should fly on the flats and rolling hills elsewhere.

There is a relatively flat 96 mile long trail through the middle of nowhere here in Georgia and this will be one of its primary venues. I won't hesitate to do charity rides with this as well.

I had been riding a Bianchi Pista set up for the road. It had been on group rides up to 60 miles and excels at a weekly out and back paceline training ride with the big boys. The Pista had track-ish geometry which was a little tiring and lacked bottle cage mounts however. Some ideas around a fast fixed gear "road bike" had been on my mind for a while. Finding a suitable off the shelf frame was a challenge so I had one made and this is the result.

Great idea. I have a "street fixie" (made out of a 1975 Viscount) and a Raleigh Pro Track. The thought of getting back on the Raleigh makes my shoulders hurt.

Shoulders hurt LoL.

Yeah, riding a track frame on the road can be a challenge, especially for me as I get older.

I think there is a place for that aggressive style of riding but every ride can't be a Red Hook Crit. The Rodriguez has a bit more relaxed "sporty road" geometry and I'm really looking forward to some epic rides through the countryside.

Here in Georgia people think they are radical but in NYC they are just another bike, part of the culture of the city in fact. I hope you do get to enjoy fixed again.

The longest ride I took on a fixie was 10 miles, over moderately hilly terrain. It was a good workout.

Many years ago, I commuted on a fixie in the winter. It kept me warm. It got mangled in my big collision. Yup, fixies are big here, though diminishingly so. I think they peaked a few years ago.

Yep, this weekend.

I'd go if I were up there. NASCAR on bikes.

Is there grandstand seating? Would stink to go and not be able to see.

Oops. I meant it's this Saturday, and I don't think I can make it. Oh well.

Yes, I really cheated death. I got hit head-on, and I don't remember the impact or the ambulance ride. I was on the way to work and woke up in the hospital, in a lot of pain. No bones broken, just bruises and a couple of cuts. I was very lucky. This was in about 1982. I was wearing a Bell Biker helmet, very heavy with a Lexan shell. The liner did get crushed, so it did its job.

I don't know if there is grandstand seating. Let's see if there is press or youtube coverage.
