Yep, it’s a trend I’ve noticed with all my hobbies. The more time I spend actively doing one, the more I’ll also want to chat about it online.

I don't ride, therefore I am.

not really suggesting that time spent riding cuts into time spent online. rather does riding or not riding influence you to visit the site more
so if you stopped riding, would you also stop your activity on the forum?

Never really thought about it, but I think I'm on here now (as well as most other times) to get informationally motivated "prior" to riding, and to give myself cycling related food-for-thought during the ride. So, the more I plan to ride, the more forum activity I have. And if I were to intentionally take 5 days off the bike (which is rare) then I'm probably not here, unless I happen to be getting motivated for when those 5 days of torture are over.

yeah that makes sense. the more I ride, the more I have to share. but even if I'm not actively sharing, I'm still reading. it's so fun to read about other ppl's rides & wrenching, both locally & afar. I've learned a lot from so many & been so amazed at some natural endurance athletes

I rode almost none from November to mid January. I don't think I came here at all. Now that I'm riding again, there are things to discuss and learn. However I always have noticed the time I spend here sometimes wastes time I could be riding.

Just as dangerous as driving while operating the phone. Not only for yourself, but, also for others, especially pedestrians. At least twice as dangerous if the pedestrian is also using their phone.

Kind of, but it's more related to my work schedule than anything else.
During certain times of the year, I get slammed with work...no weekends/days off means less time riding and less time on the internet.
During other times of year, my workload is light. This means more time riding and more time to post online!

I'm more active when I have more free time on my job. But I think I'm also more active when I'm not riding enough. When my brain does not get enough cycling, I come here and enjoy other people's stories.

Just to be clear, in case some didn't get it, but my original comment was a silly joke. I don't even have a cell phone.

+1. For various reasons I reduced my riding from 1000+ kms a month to about a half of that, and my forum activty has decreased too. Perhaps I don't consider myself a serious cyclist anymore?

I’m recovering from a surgery. Haven’t ridden in two weeks and won’t in any form for at least another four. No DF bike til end of summer, no MTB for a year.
So far I’m on here ALL THE TIME. Dunno if I’m at my peak posting. I feel like I’m holding back a lot on repetitive topics, since I’m no longer rushing to be the first know-it-all, but my fallback is unkindly sarcastic.

I mostly browse this forum at work while on break, occasionally home. Most of the topics I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been said. Other times I take so long to figure out what I want to say I just forget it and don't post. The amount of riding I do has no relation to the amount of posts I make.
